Photocatalyst systems combining donor polymers with acceptor molecules have shown the highest evolution rates for sacrificial hydrogen production from water for organic systems to date. Here, new donor molecules have been designed and synthesised taking inspiration from the structure-performance relationships which have been established in the development of non-fullerene acceptors. While a conventional bulk heterojunction (BHJ) pairing consists of a donor polymer and acceptor small molecule, here we have successfully reversed this approach by using new p-type small molecules in combination with a n-type conjugated polymer to produce non-conventional BHJ (ncBHJ) nanoparticles.

By employing a simple oxidation─dehydration sequence on readily accessible 1,3-dienes, important 2,5-diarylfuran building blocks frequently used in medicinal and material chemistry are prepared. Four chloraminated drinking water distribution systems (CDWDSs) required to maintain numeric versus "detectable" residuals were spatially and temporally sampled for water quality and associated trihalomethane (THM) and haloacetic acid (HAA) formation. Monochloramine decreased from entry point (EP) to maximum residence time (MRT) samples while THMs and HAAs initially increased and then stabilized or slightly decreased. Subsequently, EP and MRT samples were used in laboratory-held studies to further evaluate disinfectant residual stability, chloramine speciation, and nitrification occurrence.

Results: We use lentiviral genetic labeling of mouse hematopoietic stem cells to quantify output from all lineages, nucleate, and anucleate, simultaneously linking these with stem and progenitor cell transcriptomic phenotypes using single-cell RNA-sequencing.
Significance: Combining diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) permits simultaneous monitoring of multiple cerebral hemodynamic parameters related to cerebral autoregulation; however, interpreting these optical measurements can be confounded by signal contamination from extracerebral tissue.
Aim: We aimed to evaluate extracerebral signal contamination in NIRS/DCS data acquired during transient hypotension and assess suitable means of separating scalp and brain signals.
Approach: A hybrid time-resolved NIRS/multidistance DCS system was used to simultaneously acquire cerebral oxygenation and blood flow data during transient orthostatic hypotension induced by rapid-onset lower body negative pressure (LBNP) in nine young, healthy adults.
