Background: Angiosarcomas are highly aggressive malignancies with endothelial differentiation, presenting considerable challenges in oncology, especially when arising in rare locations such as the spleen. These tumors predominantly affect adults and are commonly found in the skin, breast, liver, or soft tissues, with more unusual occurrences in other organs. Angiosarcomas have a high propensity for metastasis, typically spreading to the liver, lungs, lymph nodes, and gastrointestinal tract.

The paper presents comprehensive mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of Dominican amber-bearing sediments from Siete Cañadas, Hato Mayor Province of the Eastern Mining District (EMD) in the Cordillera Oriental. The characteristics of rocks collected from the borehole in Siete Cañadas area (EMD) were compared with petrography of coaly shales from La Cumbre in the Northern Mining District (NMD). The mineralogy of the rocks was determined using transmitted and reflected light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier Transform Raman Spectroscopy.

T-follicular helper (Tfh) cells have emerged as an independent CD4(+) helper T-cell lineage required for antigen-selected germinal center B-cell survival, class switch recombination, and differentiation into long-lived plasma cells. The quantification and function of Tfh subsets are currently extensively explored in humans with infectious diseases, cancer, or autoimmune disorders. Reliable methods to identify and isolate human Tfh cells in patients and healthy donors are necessary to perform these studies.

Nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NCL/P) is one of the most common craniofacial malformations; however, its aetiology is still unclear. Because the effects of maternal nutrition on fetal development are well known, we decided to pursue the question of whether polymorphic variants of genes encoding enzymes involved in choline metabolism might be associated with the maternal risk of having a baby with NCL/P. Analysis of 18 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase (BHMT), betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase-2 (BHMT2), choline dehydrogenase (CHDH), choline kinase (CHKA), dimethylglycine dehydrogenase (DMGDH), choline-phosphate cytidylyltransferase A (PCYT1A), and phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (PEMT) provided evidence that polymorphisms located in the region containing BHMT and BHMT2 were protective factors against NCL/P affected pregnancies in our population.
