"The Walls Had Been Built": A Qualitative Study of Canadian Adolescent Perspectives on Mental Health During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Public health measures (PHMs) implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic introduced sudden changes to adolescents' everyday routines and required adolescents to repeatedly adapt their routines at a critical developmental stage. While meant to protect physical health, the PHMs destabilized mental health. Using a youth-engaged approach and interpretive description, this study explored adolescents' perspectives on their mental health in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic-related PHMs in Canada from March 2020 to the time of data collection in March 2022.

"Dual Pandemics": Intersecting Influences of Anti-Black Racism and the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Mental Health of Black Youth.

Background: The intersection of the COVID-19 pandemic with systemic anti-Black racism in the form of police violence and the subsequent Black Lives Matter movement has created an especially critical juncture to examine the mental health of Black youth.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the intersecting impacts of anti-Black racism and the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of Black youth.

Methods: A youth-engaged research approach and intersectionality framework were utilized.

Culturally responsive evaluation: A scoping review of the evaluation literature.

Evaluators have become increasingly aware of the influence of culture in evaluation, leading to new evaluation approaches that account for the cultural considerations in which evaluations are situated. This scoping review sought to explore how evaluators understand culturally responsive evaluation and identify promising practices. A search of nine evaluation journals yielded 52 articles that were included in this review.

Racism in Health Services for Adolescents: A Scoping Review.

Addressing racism within health systems and services is critical to addressing health vulnerabilities and promoting health equity for racialized populations. Currently, there is limited knowledge about the ways in which racism affects health services for adolescents. A scoping review was undertaken following the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual for Evidence Synthesis methodology and guided by the research questions: (1) What are the characteristics of the literature examining racism in health service use for adolescents? (2) What are the foci of the literature on systemic racism and health services for adolescents? A systematic literature search was conducted in April 2021 to identify all relevant published studies.

A Virtual, Simulated Code White for Undergraduate Nursing Students.

Background: Nurses and nursing students are increasingly vulnerable to workplace violence, both verbal and physical, as health care settings and clients cope with unprecedented challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic. Concurrently, clinical learning opportunities for nursing students have been curtailed by public health restrictions and limited capacity. While virtual simulations have been promoted as an alternative to clinical hours, their effectiveness as an educational intervention on workplace violence has yet to be assessed.
