Tele-operated social robots (telerobots) offer an innovative means of allowing children who are medically restricted to their homes (MRH) to return to their local schools and physical communities. Most commercially available telerobots have three foundational features that facilitate child-robot interaction: remote mobility, synchronous two-way vision capabilities, and synchronous two-way audio capabilities. We conducted a comparative analysis between the Toyota Human Support Robot (HSR) and commercially available telerobots, focusing on these foundational features.

Purpose: To determine the field output correction factors of the radiophotoluminescence glass dosimeter (RPLGD) in parallel and perpendicular orientations with reference to CC01, the ionization chamber.

Methods: The dose to a small water volume and the sensitive volume of the RPLGD and the IBA-CC01 were determined for 6-MV, 100-cm SAD, 10-cm depth using egs_chamber user-code. The RPLGD in perpendicular and parallel orientations to the beam axis were studied.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide data for the calibration of the recent biology-guided radiotherapy (BgRT) machine (Hayward, CA, USA) following the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TRS-483 code of practice (COP) (Palmans et al. International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, 2017) and (Mirzakhanian et al. Med Phys, 2020).

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide a calibration methodology for radiation therapy machines where the closest field to the conventional reference field may not meet the lateral charged particle equilibrium (LCPE) condition of the machine-specific reference (msr) field. We provided two methodologies by extending the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TRS-483 code of practice (COP) (Palmans et al. TRS-483: Dosimetry of small static fields used in external beam radiotherapy: an international code of practice for reference and relative dose determination; 2017) methodology for the calibration of radiation therapy machines with 6 MV flattening filter free (FFF) beam and with field sizes down to 10 ×  2 cm .

The IAEA is currently coordinating a multi-year project to update the TRS-398 Code of Practice for the dosimetry of external beam radiotherapy based on standards of absorbed dose to water. One major aspect of the project is the determination of new beam quality correction factors, k , for megavoltage photon beams consistent with developments in radiotherapy dosimetry and technology since the publication of TRS-398 in 2000. Specifically, all values must be based on, or consistent with, the key data of ICRU Report 90.

Currently, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TG-21 is the conventional protocol currently used for the calibration of the Leksell Gamma Knife (LGK) (despite the publication of the AAPM TG-51 protocol). However, this protocol is based on the air-kerma standards requiring an elaborate conversion process resulting in an increase in the possibility of errors in the clinic. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Reports Series (TRS)-483 Code of Practice provides new recommendations on the dosimetry of small static fields and correction factor data for the calibration of the LGK unit.

Purpose: To calculate the kQmsr,Q0fmsr,fref factors for nine common ionization chamber types following the small fields dosimetry formalism for the calibration of the Leksell Gamma Knife (LGK) Perfexion using Monte Carlo simulation. This study also provides the first independent comparison of EGSnrc and PENELOPE for the calculation of kQmsr,Q0fmsr,fref correction factors and proposes a practical method to predict these factors based on chamber type, chamber orientation and phantom electron density.

Methods: The ionization chambers are modeled using the EGSnrc and PENELOPE Monte Carlo codes based on the blueprints provided by the manufacturers.

Purpose: In this work the number of DNA single-strand breaks (SSB) and double-strand breaks (DSB) due to direct and indirect effects of Auger electrons from incorporated (123)I and (125)I have been calculated by using the Geant4-DNA toolkit. We have performed and compared the calculations for several cases: (125)I versus (123)I, source positions and direct versus indirect breaks to study the capability of the Geant4-DNA in calculations of DNA damage yields.

Materials And Methods: Two different simple geometries of a 41 base pair of B-DNA have been simulated.
