Objective: Vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) can be either HPV-dependent (HPVd) or HPV-independent (HPVi). HPVd VSCC typically occurs in younger women, has a more favorable prognosis, and develops from high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). HPVi VSCC predominantly affects older women and arises within areas of chronic inflammation, particularly lichen sclerosis (LS).

Concurrent UPJO with nephrolithiasis is not rare and simultaneous treatment by performing laparoscopic pyeloplasty and endoscopic stone removal has been suggested. In the case of atypical anatomy or previously failed pyeloplasty, a laparoscopic ureterocalicostomy is preferred.

Background: Mastectomy and breast-conserving surgery are key interventions for breast cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women. Many undergoing breast surgery experience postoperative pain compromising their functionality and quality of life. While multiple pain management strategies are available, evidence comparing the erector spinae (ESPB) and serratus anterior plane blocks (SAPB) for improving post-surgical pain management in breast cancer surgery patients is limited.

Study Design: This was a single-center, masked, randomized controlled trial involving infants born at ≤29 weeks' gestation and requiring positive pressure ventilation. Exclusion criteria included infants of COVID-19 positive mothers, large patent ductus arteriosus with left to right shunting, left ventricle dysfunction (ejection fraction <40%), significant congenital anomalies/genetic disorders, or iNO treatment by clinicians prior to the study echocardiogram.
Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare and aggressive cancer often linked to asbestos exposure. This case report presents a 60-year-old man with a history of asbestos exposure who developed MPM, initially presenting with acute abdominal pain, an uncommon mimic of the acute abdomen. Diagnosing MPM is challenging due to its vague symptoms, often leading to delayed diagnosis.

However, screening and detecting other respiratory pathogens was unheeded during this time to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. High virulence and re assortment factors intensify the importance of influenza virus surveillance for effective disease management.

However, their use is associated with an increased risk of opportunistic infections, particularly tuberculosis (TB). This case report presents a young male patient in the United Kingdom (UK) with AS, who had been on long-term biological therapy with adalimumab, a TNF-α inhibitor.

Objective: To determine if triglyceride reduction with EPA+DHA supplementation decreases EATV and whether EATV affects coronary plaque.
Background: Various surgical subspecialties, including plastic surgery, have begun to embrace virtual clinic visits, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact of video visits on time optimization and cost incurred in outpatient plastic surgery clinics has not been studied.
Methods: Using the time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC) method, we examined the time and cost of in-person and virtual visits at an academic plastic surgery clinic.
High-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC) remains a disease with poor prognosis that is unresponsive to current immune checkpoint inhibitors. Although PI3K pathway alterations, such as PTEN loss, are common in HGSC, attempts to target this pathway have been unsuccessful. We hypothesized that aberrant PI3K pathway activation may alter the HGSC immune microenvironment and present a targeting opportunity.

We hypothesized that prolonged ventilation in preterm infants is associated with subglottic dilatation that can be reliably evaluated by point of care ultrasonography (POCUS).
Methods: All preterm infants (<29-weeks) admitted to the neonatal ICU at the Advent-Health from January-2020 to June-2022 were eligible if they required invasive ventilation for ≤7 days in the first 28 days of life (control) or remained intubated for ≥28 days (prolonged ventilation).

Introduction: Amid coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, accurate detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is critical for diagnosis management and breaking down transmission chains. We designed a national external quality assessment panel (EQAP) for SARS-CoV-2 molecular detection comprising working laboratories nationwide.
Methods: A molecular diagnostic EQA panel that consists of five samples for SARS CoV-2 testing was distributed to 141 public and private sector laboratories across country.
Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) can be complicated by anemia due to periprocedural bleeding, hemolysis, vascular events, or significant bleeding associated with antiplatelet therapy.
Objective: We used the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database to study the outcomes of patients who underwent TAVR and developed significant anemia requiring red blood cell (RBC) transfusion.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study utilizing the NIS database from 2016 to 2017.
Background: Individual outcomes may not accurately reflect the quality of perioperative care. Textbook outcomes (TOs) are composite metrics that provide a comprehensive evaluation of hospital performance and surgical quality. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and predictors of TOs in a multi-institutional cohort of patients who underwent breast reconstruction with deep inferior epigastric artery perforator flaps.

Methods: Intravesical electrical stimulation procedure is performed using a specific catheter equipped with an internal electrical electrode (cathode).

Reports from different parts of the world suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown and social distancing measures have heralded unprecedented mental health challenges among children and adolescents. To date, there is a dearth of studies emerging from the Arabian Gulf, where the majority of its population are children and adolescents. The study aims to examine the prevalence of anxiety-related symptoms and their covariates among children and adolescents in an Arabian Gulf country, Oman.

Methods: Totally 89 CRAB isolates were included. Cluster analysis was determined by Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE).
Background: Spontaneous coronary artery dissection and takotsubo cardiomyopathy are increasingly recognized in the last two decades. Case reports have shown both entities can present concomitantly - however, little is known about their association.
Methods: In this retrospective study we aimed to explore a potential association between SCAD and TCM using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample.

Introduction: Influenza A viruses cause global health concerns due to their high amino acid substitution rates. They are linked to yearly seasonal epidemics and occasional pandemics. This study focused on sequencing influenza A virus strains in Pakistan.

Our objective was to evaluate the activity of ceftaroline, ceftobiprole and their combination with trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole against methicillin-resistant (MRSA) isolates recovered at two centers in Turkey. Activities of ceftaroline and ceftobiprole were tested against 100 MRSA isolates using gradient diffusion method.

Premature surfactant-deficient lungs are injured following exposure to positive pressure ventilation and high oxygen concentrations resulting in variable phenotypes of PH.
