Surgical Treatment of a Symptomatic Diaphyseal Tibiofibular Synostosis in a Professional Rugby Player: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Context: Diaphyseal tibiofibular synostosis (DTS) is a rare pathology with unknown origin especially occurring in intensive sport athletes. No therapeutic guideline has been well established in the literature.

Case Presentation: A rare case of DTS in a 26-year-old professional rugby player has been described.

Return to sports and quality of life after high tibial osteotomy in patients under 60 years of age.

Introduction: Since knee osteoarthritis is unicompartmental in most cases, a knee osteotomy is the most logical solution to limit degeneration of the arthritic compartment, thereby delaying knee arthroplasty. Younger patients have high functional demands. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the return to sports and quality of life after high tibial osteotomy (HTO) in athletic patients less than 60 years of age.

Failure of high tibial varus osteotomy for lateral tibio-femoral osteoarthritis with<10° of valgus: Outcomes in 19 patients.

Background: Osteotomy is a rational approach to slowing knee osteoarthritis progression by modifying loads, thereby avoiding joint replacement in younger individuals. Varus femoral osteotomy is recommended only in patients with more than 10° of valgus. The objective here was to assess outcomes of tibial varus osteotomy in patients with lateral compartment tibio-femoral osteoarthritis and less than 10° of valgus.

Return to sports and functional results after revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction by fascia lata autograft.

Introduction: The surgical revision rate following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery is 3% at 2 years and 4% at 5 years. Revision ACL surgery raises the question of the type of graft to be used. The present study assessed return to sports and functional results after revision ACL reconstruction by fascia lata graft.

Return to Sport After Primary and Revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Prospective Comparative Study of 552 Patients From the FAST Cohort.

Background: Few studies have reported the return-to-sport rate at 1-year follow-up after primary and revision anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

Purpose: To compare the return-to-sport rate 1 year after primary and revision ACL reconstruction in the same cohort according to 2 modalities: any kind of sport and the patient's usual sport at the same level as before the injury.

Particularities of anterior fusion in L4-L5 isthmic spondylolisthesis.

Purpose: L4-L5 isthmic spondylolisthesis may be associated with lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTV) and altered venous vascular anatomy. The objectives of this study were to describe the anatomical characteristics of L4-L5 ISPL and the intraoperative difficulties encountered during the approach for anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF).

Methods: This is a retrospective review of 20 ALIFs for L4-L5 ISPL.

The split portal: Description of a new accessory posterior portal for arthroscopic shoulder instability procedures.

Purpose: Open approach to the posterior shoulder during bone block for posterior shoulder instability is challenging. Anatomical study was performed to identify landmarks of a portal, avoiding soft tissue damage, between the infraspinatus (IS) and teres minor (TM) muscles and distant from the supra-scapular nerve (SSN) for arthroscopic shoulder bone block.

Methods: Eight fresh-frozen cadaveric shoulder specimens were used.

Iliac Crest Avulsion Fracture in a Young Sprinter.

Avulsion fracture of the iliac crest is an uncommon pathology. It usually occurs in teenagers during sport activities, more common in boys. We report a case of 16-year-old male competitive sprinter, who had an avulsion of a part of the iliac crest and the anterior-superior iliac spine during a competition.

Bartonella henselae osteoarthritis of the upper cervical spine in a 14-year-old boy.

We report a case of Bartonella henselae, an agent of cat scratch disease, C1-C2 osteoarthritis with osteolysis of the lateral mass of C2 in a 14-year-old boy. Oral antibiotics did not successfully treat the infection and surgery was necessary to treat the septic arthritis. The case opens discussion about bacterial osteoarthritis of the cervical spine and bone involvement in disseminated bartonellosis.

Solid aneurysmal bone cyst on the cervical spine of a young child.

Introduction: Solid aneurysmal bone cyst (S-ABC) is a variant of aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC), an uncommon benign bone tumor. There are few cases described in the cervical spine in kids up today. We treated a recurrent case with neurological involvement that needed multiple surgical procedures and radiotherapy.

[Posteromedial dislocation of the elbow with lateral condyle and coronoid process fractures: a case report].

We report the occurrence of a rare injury in a teenager not yet described in the literature: the association of posteromedial elbow dislocation, lateral condyle and coronoid process fractures. The treatment required fixation of lateral condyle and coronoid process thanks to lateral and medial approaches and capsular fixation. This lesion is unstable, such as the terrible triad described in adults.

The risk of dislocation after total hip arthroplasty for fractures is decreased with retentive cups.

Purpose: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been efficacious for treating hip fractures in healthy older patients. However, in those patients with fractures a widely variable prevalence of dislocation has been reported, partly because of varying durations of follow up for this specific end-point. The purpose of the present study was to determine the cumulative risk of dislocation in these patients with fractures and to investigate if retentive cups decrease the risk of dislocation.
