The operational practice of the design of the Bozena 5 demining machine has shown that its belts are the critical component that fundamentally affects the functionality of the entire machine. This article is a practical continuation and extension of the previous research results from the point of view of materials (research of the uniaxial fatigue life in bending and torsion), calculation (creation of the necessary mathematical, analytical and numerical models for the research) and construction (i.e.

Urban railway vehicles are important means of transport in towns and cities due to their high capacity, power source, and low running resistance, which make them efficient for operation. Although these properties are considered advantages, there is still room for improvement in their operational efficiency. The main objective of this article is to investigate the impact of railway wheel design on the level of kinematic running resistance, which is expressed as the amount of mechanical energy losses during the interaction of wheels with rails.

This paper focuses on the development, theoretical and experimental research on the structural units of an unconventional three-wheeled vehicle. The vehicle is designed in order to increase the stability when cornering in a low curvature radius. Current research work describes solutions to increase the cornering stability of either conventional three-wheeled vehicles or, more rarely, unconventional vehicles designed on the basis of complex wheel-tilting mechatronics.

Currently, classical methods for the creation of various shapes and bending angles of metal sheet parts are applied. They are represented by the so-called all-metal forming tools. Non-standard methods, which in some cases exceed conventional technical solutions, are used in the practice to a minor extent.

The submitted research paper describes the fundamental findings in terms of multiaxial fatigue of the basic material EN AW6063 and its welds for implementation in the frame design of an unconventional vehicle. It also includes a briefly-presented conceptual design of a technical solution for optimizing the functionality of a steering mechanism in a patented unconventional vehicle, designed by the authors to increase the cornering stability of a vehicle-tricycle. The most important part of this article is the description of the ongoing research and the results of multiaxial fatigue (bending-torsion combination) of the structural material for the construction of the vehicle frame.

This article is divided into two parts-in the first part, authors inform about their testing device that enables the acquisition of results from uniaxial and multiaxial fatigue tests (the bending-torsion combination). We present the approaches used during designing and building the testing device. The direct implementation of the research in the second part will concentrate on implementing the acquired results for the frame design of a vehicle worked out by the authors.

This study investigated the fatigue life of welded joints, in particular, the welds of the high-strength steel S960 QL. The welds were created using unconventional technologies by utilising laser and electron beams. The direct application of the research is intended to be carried out through implementing the results towards the design of tracks for the track-wheel chassis of the demining system Božena 5.
