Oral lesions in patients with pemphigus vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid.

Thirty three patients admitted to the University Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital, were included in the study. The purpose of the study was to compare data on age and gender, habits, lesion localization, onset of symptoms and therapy between patients with pemphigus vulgaris and those suffering from bullous pemphigoid. Based on clinical presentation, histopathologic analysis, direct and indirect immunofluorescence, Tzanck smear and desmogleins, 15 cases of pemphigus vulgaris and 18 cases of bullous pemphigoid were diagnosed.

Contact allergy to special and standard allergens in patients with venous ulcers.

The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of nickel sulfate hypersensitivity in patients tested by standard allergen series at Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Dr. Josip Bencević General Hospital in Slavonski Brod over a three-year period. Patch testing with 5% nickel sulfate in vaseline applied on test strips was used to determine nickel sulfate hypersensitivity.

Neurofibromatosis--review of the literature and case report.

Neurofibromatoses are genetic disorders of the nervous system that primarily affect the development and growth of neural (nerve) cell tissues. These disorders cause tumors to grow on nerves, and produce other abnormalities such as skin changes and bone deformities. Although many affected persons inherit the disorder, between 30 and 50 percent of new cases arise spontaneously through mutation in the individual's genes.

Contact dermatitis to temporary tattoo.

The development of contact hypersensitivity to temporary tattoos has been on an increase all over the world. Skin painting with henna is a traditional practice in the Moslems and Hindu, and has recently been increasingly used in western countries. Black henna is obtained by adding paraphenylenediamine to the natural occurring henna.

Colonization of venous leg ulcers by microorganisms.

The aim of the study was to identify the microorganisms that most commonly colonize leg ulcers. The study included 70 patients of both sexes, aged 31-85 years. There were 49 (70%) female and 21 (30%) male patients, mean age 69.
