Background: Existing evidence supports the effectiveness of exercise in preventing and treating chronic diseases, yet its integration into clinical practice remains limited. This study protocol aims to address the evidence-practice gap by exploring barriers to exercise prescription in primary care and developing a clinical practice guideline (CPG).
Methods: Employing a qualitative approach, focus groups will be conducted to investigate primary care professionals' challenges in prescribing exercise and patients' adherence to recommendations.
Unlabelled: The growing demand for space and financial resources to manage current and new municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills has become a massive challenge for several countries. Additionally, landfills contribute to adverse environmental impacts such as pollution and CO (carbon dioxide) and CH (methane) emissions. This paper has analyzed the possibility of producing biogas from landfilled MSW.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe moisture content of the municipal solid waste (MSW) is a physical characteristic that plays a fundamental role in the stability and settlement of landfills. However, this physical index is difficult to monitor within the mass of landfilled MSW because it undergoes great variation due, mainly, to the heterogeneity and biodegradation of the waste. Brazilian MSW generally has a large amount of organic matter, that when biodegraded, generates a considerable volume of gases and fluids, aggravated by climatic conditions, such as high rainfall and temperatures.

Background: Most patients with phosphoinositide-3-kinase, catalytic, alpha polypeptide (PIK3CA)-related overgrowth spectrum become symptomatic early in life and need treatment before puberty. Recently, the specific inhibition of PIK3CA pathways has been proposed as a therapeutic option for these patients improving their surgical options and quality of life. Alpelisib, a specific alpha fraction inhibitor, has shown promising results.

Children with lymphatic malformations (LMs) involving the airway benefit from sirolimus therapy soon after birth, reducing the need of tracheostomy. Available information about efficacy and side effects in neonates remains poor.

There are several therapeutic techniques: grafts, flaps, dermal regenerator, and tissue expanders.
Materials And Methods: We reviewed 10 patients with facial nevus higher than 10 cm treated in the past 8 years.
The Ore Treatment Unit (UTM-Caldas), in the city of Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brazil, nowadays in decommissioning stage, was the first uranium extraction mine in Brazil. Several negative environmental impacts in the area have occurred, because of mining, treatment and beneficiation processes. Waste rock pile 4 (WRP-4) generates acid mine drainage (AMD), which is discharged in the Nestor Figueiredo retention pond (NFP).

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a vascular tumor frequently associated with Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon (KMP), characterized by severe thrombocytopenia and consumptive coagulopathy. Visceral involvement in KHE is rare. In our recent experience, sirolimus has shown to be an effective treatment in cutaneous KHE, becoming indeed the treatment of choice in KMP.

With an EC50 in the low micromolar range, these compounds proved to be potent inducers of apoptosis in a broad spectrum of tumor cell lines, regardless of the functional status of p53. Fast structure-activity relationship studies allowed the preparation of the strongest apoptosis-inducing candidate.

Background: Progressive osteolysis caused by lympathic malformations is a rare condition that should be known by specialists involved in the study of lymphatic disorders because they are necessarily involved in the treatment. The purpose of the present study is to report on a large series of patients to illustrate the multiple clinical pictures and the wide range of therapeutic measures necessary for arresting bone destruction and lymphatic leak.
Methods And Results: Inclusion criteria were osteolysis associated with lymphatic malformation that required treatment.
Bone marrow stromal cells are multipotent stem cells that have the potential to differentiate into bone, cartilage, fat and muscle. Recently, bone marrow stromal cells have been shown to have the capacity to differentiate into neurons under specific experimental conditions, using chemical factors. We now describe how bone marrow stromal cells can be induced to differentiate into neuron-like cells when they are co-cultured with Schwann cells.

The products of this process, alpha-carbamoylated-1,2-dihydroazines, are the result of the addition of the isocyanide partner to the N-acylazinium salt formed in situ. This represents a new source of iminium ion equivalents for Ugi-type reactions.
