In elderly, the fractures in C1-C2 are a common entity. Poor bone quality and wide range of motion hamper the natural bone fusion, thus making surgery often the only possible way to deal with the underlying pathology. The proximity to important neurovascular structures represents the stabilization in this segment a challenge to the surgical team.

Results from the peripheral blood state of 200 workers with chronic exposure to benzol and other aromatic hydrocarbons are given, as well as for 155 agricultural workers in contact with pesticides for many years and 308 children of the region with polluted by heavy metals (mainly lead) environment. Attention is drawn, that both the acute intoxications and chronic toxic effects have provoking role for the manifestation of concealed congenital, not rarely genetically stimulated insufficiency of Gl-6-PHD, which is manifested clinically as haemolytic anemia and secretly proceeding hemoglobinopathies, which clinically develop as thalassemia at entering of toxic doses of drugs, heavy metals, pesticides in the organism.

The author carried out studies on 20 white rats (weight of 150 gm) and 40 white mice (weight of 20 gm), equal number of both sexes administering oraly respective doses of diazepam in a dose of 650 mg/body weight and 620 mg/body weight, having in mind the LD50 determined by him (730 mg/body weight for rats and 535 mg/body weight for mice). In this way he induced acute intoxication especially gravely manifested in mice. After two hours, when the rats were in a comatous state, he introduced oraly centrophenoxine in a dose of 50 mg/body weight in half of the animals, but the other animals remained as controls.

Two hours later, on the background of advanced intoxication, manifested by adynamia ataxia, lateral position, somnolence reaching stupor, the author administered in half of the animals (10) per os centrophenaxine in a dose of 50 mg/kg of body weight. The signs of intoxication disappeared for 24 hours after treatment with centrophenoxine.
