This study analyzes online news disseminated throughout the pre-, during-, and post-intervention periods of the "Syphilis No!" Project, which was developed in Brazil between November 2018 and March 2019. We investigated the influence of sentiment aspects of news to explore their possible relationships with syphilis testing data in response to the syphilis epidemic in Brazil. A dictionary-based technique (VADER) was chosen to perform sentiment analysis considering the Brazilian Portuguese language.

Methods: this was a descriptive study of cases notified to the Ministry of Health; trends were analyzed based on the number of confirmed and probable cases per EW; the cases were also described according to demographic and clinical variables.
Results: out of 31,513 notifications, 23.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. An advanced understanding of cardiovascular disease mechanisms is required to improve therapeutic strategies and patient risk stratification. State-of-the-art, large-scale, single-cell and single-nucleus transcriptomics facilitate the exploration of the cardiac cellular landscape at an unprecedented level, beyond its descriptive features, and can further our understanding of the mechanisms of disease and guide functional studies.

Although the effect of CTS application on the bacterial community has been studied, it is unclear whether this impact discriminates between the dominant and rare species. This present study investigated how the dominant and rare bacterial communities respond over time to different concentrations of CTS application (0, 2.

In this paper, we present the development of an impedance-based method for detecting antigens and antibodies as an auxiliary tool for syphilis laboratory diagnosis. We evaluate the voltammetric signal obtained after incubation in carbon or gold nanoparticle-modified carbon electrodes in the presence or absence of Poly-L-Lysine.

Therefore, this study assessed the microbial community, by amplicon sequencing, in the rhizosphere of maize and cowpea growing in uncontaminated (∼6.0 mg kg Cr) and Cr-contaminated soils (∼250 mg kg Cr).

Methods: Longitudinal study with 2496 adult participants of the Cohort of Universities of Minas Gerais (CUME Project). Food consumption was categorized by food groups according to degree of processing following the NOVA grading system: unprocessed/minimally processed foods/culinary ingredients (U/MPF&CI), processed foods (PFs) and ultra-processed foods (UPFs).
Background: The torcular pseudomass is an incidental extra-axial midline mass located between the venous sinuses and the occipital squama in the pediatric population. Although this structure is presumed to be a developmental feature, it has not been characterized on fetal MRI.
Objective: To determine the frequency, imaging features and longitudinal in utero evolution of torcular pseudomass using fetal MRI.
Background: Synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A) is a vesicle glycoprotein involved in neurotransmitter release. SV2A is located on the pre-synaptic terminals of neurons and visualized using the radioligand [C]UCB-J and positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Thus, SV2A PET imaging can provide a proxy for pre-synaptic density in health and disease.

We evaluated the loading and interaction of an acridine orange ligand, termed C that acts as an anticancer drug and binder/stabilizer of the G4 structure of AT11. Dynamic light scattering experiments demonstrated that the aptadendrimer was approximately 3.

Coronary artery calcification (CAC) score is a subclinical atherosclerosis marker able to predict the risk of CVD in asymptomatic patients, and few studies have investigated the association between dietary patterns (DP) and CAC score prospectively. Thus, the aim of this study was to estimate the association between baseline DP and CAC score incidence and progression on the ELSA-Brasil cohort.

Surface acoustic wave sensors can be used for this application, overcoming the cited limitations. To give our contribution, in this work we present the bottom-up development of a surface acoustic wave biosensor to detect active α-glycosidase in aqueous solutions.

Observations: A 55-year-old man referring progressive visual blurring for the last 6 months and painless severe bilateral visual loss in the last 7 days prior to our consultation, associated with a bilateral optic disc swelling and leptomeningeal metastases from a previously ignored prostate carcinoma is presented. Rapid improvement of visual acuity and involution of leptomeningeal metastasis was observed after initiation of the specific oncologic treatment.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Brazilian red propolis is a natural product known due to its medicinal properties. The efficacy of this natural resin has been proved; however, few studies report the safety of its oral use. Some toxic effects of natural products may not be expressed in traditional use, and preclinical studies are necessary to guarantee their safety.

Experimental pH is of interest due to its ability to influence nanoparticle size and shape; however, little has been explored in comparison to the influence of this parameter on the therapeutic potential of resultant metallic nanoparticles. Our work investigated the influence of pH alternation on antimicrobial properties of plant-mediated green synthesized (using leaf extract) silver nanoparticles.

Methods: This observational cohort study enrolled 46 consecutive septic patients in the intensive care unit between November 2020 and October 2021. After fluid resuscitation, the peripheral ischemic microvascular reserve was evaluated using the association of postocclusion reactive hyperemia with the peripheral perfusion index.
The transient receptor potential vanilloid type-1 (TRPV1) channels have been implicated in the modulation of aversive responses. The endocannabinoid anandamide acts as an endogenous TRPV1 agonist, exerting opposite functions at TRPV1 and type-1 cannabinoid receptors (CBR). Here we tested the hypothesis that hippocampal TRPV1 modulates contextual fear memory retrieval and investigated the influence of the aversive stimulus intensity as well as the role of endocannabinoid signaling.

Since alkylamides can inhibit pain, this work aims to evaluate the antinociceptive profile of methanolic extracts used and assays. The extracts inhibited the neurogenic and inflammatory phases of the formalin test, ratifying the antinociceptive effect of alkylamides.

The questions of whether vasopressin could be produced outside of the brain and if the kidney could be a source of vasopressin are raised by the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (vasopressin). We found that mouse and human kidneys expressed vasopressin mRNA.

Assessing the structure of networks composed of the interactions between those partners leads to a better understanding of ecosystem functioning and the effects of environmental factors on ecological processes. Gathering such data is, however, costly and time-consuming, especially in the highly diverse tropics.

We also determined whether nucleolin (NCL) can be a target of AT11-L2 G4. Firstly, we assessed by circular dichroism, UV and NMR spectroscopies the formation of G4 by AT11-L2.

Background: The transition to adolescence can be challenging for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The present study explored child and family variables that predict functional outcomes of adolescents with ASD in emotional/behavioral difficulties, socialization, daily living skills, and the transition to secondary education.
Method: Forty-five individuals with ASD, without intellectual disability, were assessed during childhood (aged 7-11) and almost five years later.
