Background: Glial tumors are the most common primary malignant central nervous system tumors. They are hard to treat, not only because of the deregulation in multiple pathways but also because they are not contained in a well-defined mass with clear borders. The use of a single therapeutic agent to target gliomas has yielded unsatisfactory results.

However, - 10T/C mutation in the hepatocyte-directed promoter region has not been associated with COPD pathogenesis so far. Here, we report an increased frequency of - 10C genotype that is associated with decreased levels of serum alpha1-antitrypsin (α1AT) in COPD patients.

This study was an attempt to unequivocally relate the stress protein dynamics with stage and propensity of ESCC.
Methods: Surgically resected tumor and adjacent histologically normal tissue from 46 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were investigated in the present study.
