Article Synopsis
  • - Nevus lipomatosus superficialis (NLS) is a rare benign growth of fat tissue that has been minimally reported over the past century; a case involving a 41-year-old man with a lesion near his right ear was treated and analyzed.
  • - A literature review of 158 articles on NLS found 112 that met the study's criteria, detailing 149 cases, and highlighted the importance of recognizing NLS, especially when it appeared alongside conditions like sebaceous trichofolliculoma.
  • - Although NLS is typically asymptomatic and benign, it can sometimes become problematic due to its size or location, so early identification and treatment are essential for the best outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study analyzed the carbonate system and air-sea CO exchange in the western inshore waters of South Korea in 2020, highlighting the importance of these areas for accurate estimates of CO fluxes in the southeastern Yellow Sea.
  • - Seasonal changes in seawater CO partial pressure (pCO) were primarily influenced by thermal effects, while in the summer, inshore waters showed significant variability in pCO levels, fluctuating between 185 and 1000 μatm.
  • - Unlike offshore regions, inshore waters less than 20 m deep emitted about 100 Gg C per year into the atmosphere, indicating a need for more detailed observations to improve understanding of air-sea CO exchange dynamics.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world population faced various mental health challenges, highlighting a need for new community-based psychosocial interventions. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and feasibility of Nature-Based Therapy (NBT) for the community experiencing psychological distress during the pandemic. A multi-site trial comparing NBT and control groups was conducted in Korea with 291 participants exhibiting mild to severe depression or anxiety.

Although many people affected by COVID-19 suffer from some form of psychological distress, access to proper treatment or psychosocial interventions has been limited. This study aimed to examine the feasibility and preliminary effects of a therapeutic gardening program conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program consisted of 30 sessions and was conducted at 10 nationwide sites in Korea from June to November 2021.

We investigated pigment and mycosporine-like amino acid (MAA) concentrations of phytoplankton and Northern krill ( sp.) in sub-Arctic Kongsfjorden. Chlorophyll a (Chl-a) concentrations in the surface and middle-layer water were 0.

Admitting non-Riemannian geometries, double field theory extends the notion of spacetime beyond the Riemannian paradigm. We identify a class of singular spacetimes known in general relativity with regular non-Riemannian geometries. The former divergences merely correspond to coordinate singularities of the generalized metric for the latter.

The spatial distribution of UV-absorbing compounds (mycosporine-like amino acids, MAAs), was investigated by comparing the phytoplankton community structures in the inner and outer waters of the Kongsfjorden inlet, which is located in arctic Svalbard. Thalassiosira sp. and Phaeocystis sp.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop nursing practice guidelines and algorithms for the pre- and postoperative care of gastric cancer patients.

Methods: The guidelines and algorithms were developed based on a literature review and subject-matter experts' knowledge. The usefulness and applicability of the developed guidelines and algorithms were evaluated by the expert group.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate recording completeness of the nursing process. We compared nursing statements documented at the time when the Electronic Nursing Record (ENR) system, based on the ICNP, was implemented in 2004 with those documented in 2007. The ENRs for 35 gastrectomy patients in each year were selected for evaluation.

Bacteriophage phiFC1 integrase (MJ1) was previously shown to perform a site-specific recombination between a phage attachment site (attP) and a host attachment site (attB) in its host, Enterococcus faecalis, and also in a non-host bacterium, Escherichia coli. Here, we investigated biochemical features of MJ1 integrase. First, MJ1 integrase could perform in vitro recombination between attP and attB in the absence of additional factors.

Cyclosporin A (CsA)-induced hyperkalemia is caused by alterations in transepithelial K+ secretion resulting from the inhibition of renal tubular Na+, K+ -ATPase activity. Thyroxine enhances renal cortical Na+, K+ -ATPase activity. This study investigated the effect of thyroxine on CsA-induced hyperkalemia.
