The mismatch between the nutrient intake from the diet and the output by the mammary gland causes a negative energy balance in transition dairy cows, that, if excessive, can promote several metabolic disorders. Other relevant phenomena occur during transition, such as inflammation at calving and changes in immunocompetence, redox balance, and mineral metabolism. Despite the efforts, some aspects of the adaptive mechanisms observed in the transition period still need to be clarified.

According to these observations, this study investigates the activity of sulforaphane (RS-GRA) on an in vitro model of differentiated NSC-34 cells. We performed a transcriptomic analysis at various time points (24 h, 48 h, and 72 h) and RS-GRA concentrations (1 µM, 5 µM, and 10 µM) to identify molecular pathways influenced by this compound and the effects of dosage and prolonged exposure.

The present study is aimed at developing an innovative method for efficient cancer cell destruction by exploiting the magnetomechanical actuation (MMA) of Fe-Cr-Nb-B magnetic particles (MPs), which are loaded with clinically approved chemotherapeutic drugs. To achieve this objective, FeCrNbB magnetic nanoparticles were produced by mechanically grinding amorphous ribbon precursors with the same composition. Remote magneto-mechanical actuation (MMA) of magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) is emerging as a promising therapy method in oncology. The high energy, protein, and fiber contents of whole cottonseed make it a potential candidate for the inclusion in calf starters to promote the rumen development. This study aimed at assessing whether the inclusion of whole cottonseed in the starter would affect performance, metabolic profile, and rumination time in Holstein dairy calves.
