Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) profiling is a sensitive method of lipid screening that has the capability to distinguish between different fertility phenotypes in gilts. However, MRM profiling has not yet been utilized to evaluate fertility phenotypes in boars. Markers indicative of fertility status in boars would be valuable as inclusion of subfertile boars in breeding programs results in a loss of efficiency and negative economic consequences.

The model is analytically soluble and permits rapid calculation and analysis of the effects of variation in each of the three free energy parameters upon the concentration dependence of the weight-average stoichiometry of the oligomer, the fraction of total macromolecule that is adsorbed, and the fraction of differently shaped oligomers that are adsorbed and in free solution.

We previously demonstrated that activation of BCR signaling in primary CLL cells downregulated expression of PDCD4, an inhibitor of the translational initiation factor eIF4A and a potential tumor suppressor in lymphoma. Regulation of the PDCD4/eIF4A axis appeared to be important for expression of the MYC oncoprotein as MYC mRNA translation was increased following BCR stimulation and MYC protein induction was repressed by pharmacological inhibition of eIF4A.

AAAE posits that (a) age-related cognitive, motivational, and physical changes fundamentally change the appraisal system in certain ways, and that (b) older adults often deploy appraisal processes in different ways relative to their younger counterparts. As such, we hypothesize that these age-related changes to the appraisal process underlie the finding that older and younger adults tend to experience different emotions.

The current study investigated differences in emotional experiences and coping strategies between younger and older adults during the pandemic, and whether these differences were accounted for by age differences in appraisal of the pandemic.
Research Design And Methods: We asked younger (n = 181) and older (n = 176) adult participants to report their stress, appraisals of the pandemic, emotions, and the ways in which they were coping with the pandemic.
Affect can influence judgments and decision-making in multiple ways. One way is through (a) integral affect, or affect related to the choice at hand, and another way is through (b) incidental affect, or affect unrelated to the choice at hand. Research suggests integral affect influences risk-related decision-making, especially in the context of risky choice framing.

As the mitochondria provide for sperm motility and generate the fertility-affecting reactive oxygen species (ROS), we hypothesized that MS length correlates with boar semen parameters and artificial insemination (AI) fertility. Quantitative models are presented, indicating that an age-dependent increase in macromolecular crowding resulting from water loss may be responsible for three observed phenomena: a general age-dependent loss of intracellular protein solubility, a delayed and rapid appearance of high molecular weight aggregates, and an age-dependent transfer of intracellular protein from dilute to concentrated or condensed phases.

Two quantitative models for the effect of high total macromolecular volume occupancy ('macromolecular crowding') upon the chemical inhibition of protein fibrillation are presented. The first assumes that fibrillation is reversible, and the second assumes that fibrillation is irreversible. Both models predict that small molecule inhibitors will be less effective in crowded media than in dilute media, whereas macromolecular inhibitors are likely to retain their efficiency in crowded media.
