Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular and metabolic complications. Albuminuria, an early marker of kidney damage, is a proposed risk factor for OSA and its adverse outcomes. The study explored the association between OSA and albuminuria in Korean adults.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of hormone replacement therapy on major adverse cardiovascular events, kidney failure, and mortality in women with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: This population-based cohort study analyzed data from the National Cancer Screening Program and the national health examination of South Korea.
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) represent promising therapeutic modalities against multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. As a mimic of natural AMPs, peptidomimetic oligomers like peptoids (i.e.

This cross-sectional study included 404 patients from the Phase II KoreaN Cohort Study for Outcome in Patients With CKD. HGS, measured twice in each hand, was the exposure, and malnutrition status was defined by a malnutrition-inflammation score (MIS) of 6 or higher.

Hospitalization increases the readmission rate and mortality rate, seriously deteriorating patients' quality of life. Consequently, it is crucial to analyze the reasons for hospitalization in CKD patients from a broader perspective according to CKD grade.

However, inspection standards for such facilities are not well-established. Herein, we aimed to derive calculation formulas and factors related to organic matter decomposition efficiency and methane production rate in accordance with waste treatment facility inspection standards.

However, the discriminative performance for AKI risk has been rarely validated. We aimed to evaluate the differences in acute kidney injury (AKI) prediction or reclassification power according to the three eGFR equations.

We aimed to investigate the association between PPI initiation and the risk of adverse outcomes in patients with CKD in the absence of any deterministic indications for PPI usage.
Design: Retrospective observational study.

Background: The impact of baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) on the risk of adverse outcomes according to metabolic parameter variabilities in chronic kidney disease has rarely been investigated.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective nationwide cohort study using the National Health Insurance System data in Korea from 2007 to 2013 to identify individuals with three or more health screenings. The metabolic components variability was defined as intraindividual variability between measurements using the variability independent of the mean.
Background: Early-onset diabetes mellitus has a significant lifetime burden and is associated with higher morbidity and mortality. Since insulin resistance is one of the mechanisms of podocyte injury, we aimed to evaluate the effect of albuminuria on newly developed early-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: We screened 6,891,399 subjects aged ≥20 and <40 years without a history of prediabetes or diabetes from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database between 2009 and 2012.
Introduction: Additional evidence is necessary to interpret kidney function parameters in young adults, particularly in those with marginal estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) values. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the association between eGFR and adverse outcomes in general young adults.
Methods: We performed a nationwide retrospective cohort study using the health-screening database of South Korea.
Aim: The risk for dementia is increased in postmenopausal women. The incidences of premature menopause and dementia have increased in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The potential benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on cognitive function may be a more critical issue for patients with CKD.

As a mimic of AMPs, peptoids with N-substituted glycine backbone have been utilized for antimicrobials with resistance against proteolytic degradation. Antimicrobial peptoids are known to kill bacteria by membrane disruption; however, the nonspecific aggregation of intracellular contents is also suggested as an important bactericidal mechanism.

Tobacco leaves and cellulose acetate tubes have been successfully carbonized (HTW-C) and mixed with metal oxides (MnO and FeO) to obtain highly active materials for supercapacitors. Moreover, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) filters have been successfully dissolved in an organic solvent and mixed with the as-prepared active materials using a simple paste mixing method.

We aimed to explore the impact of DM on each cause of mortality according to kidney function and the presence of albuminuria. Data on subjects with DM were extracted from the Nationwide Health Insurance Database of South Korea between 2009 and 2012.

To enhance HPAD performance, a comprehensive understanding of microbial community dynamics and their interactions is essential. For this, mesophilic batch high-pressurized anaerobic reactors were operated under 3 bars (H3) and 6 bars (H6).

However, LiDAR sensors have weakness in detecting black or dark-tone materials with light-absorbing properties. In this study, SiO2/black TiO2 core/shell nanoparticles (SBT CSNs) were designed as LiDAR-detectable black materials.

A series of TiO-coated synthetic mica materials colored white, yellow, red, violet, blue, and green (referred to as color mica/TiO materials) were fabricated via a facile sol-gel method. The colors were controlled by varying the thickness of the TiO coating layer, as the coatings with different thicknesses exhibited different light interference effects.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical relevance of post-PCI FFR measurement after DES implantation.
We previously reported that mature silkworm (SW) ameliorated scopolamine (Sco)-induced amnesia, and (AG) prevented cognitive impairment. SW is known for its gastroprotective effects such as improving liver function and alleviating the effects of Parkinson's disease. AG is known for its neuroprotective effects and for lowering the effects of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
