Background: The appropriate extent of resection for esophagogastric junction cancer and the method of surgical approach remain controversial. This study aimed to assess the safety and outcomes of the parachute technique, which is an open transhiatal reconstruction method that facilitates stable reconstruction.
Materials And Methods: The surgical outcomes of 20 consecutive patients who underwent open lower- esophagogastrectomy for EGJ cancer at Kitasato University Hospital from June 2019 to July 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.
Purpose: Recently, noninvasive preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (niPGT-A) using cell-free deoxyribonucleic acid has been developed; however, there are few reports on this and the results are inconsistent. This study was conducted to optimize the cultural environment.
Methods: We used 35 blastocysts that had been discarded after in-vitro fertilization.
Unlabelled: We aimed to examine the associations between use of cuffed or uncuffed endotracheal tubes (ETTs) and complications during and after short-term intubation of post-palatoplasty patients without intrinsic lung disease.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Setting: Operating room and PICU.
The technologies used to generate human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) from somatic cells potentially enable the wide application of iPSC-derived differentiated cells in industrial research fields as a replacement for animals. However, as highly trained individuals are required to obtain reproducible results, this approach has limited social implementation. In the research field of iPSC, it is believed that documentable information is not enough for reproducing the quality of the differentiated cells.

He was referred to the Department of Surgery 2 months later due to prolonged jaundice and immediately underwent pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy with the diagnosis of resectable pancreatic cancer. Pathology showed pN1b (14/37), but 16b1 interaorticocaval was 0/1.

Acute encephalopathy with biphasic seizures and late reduced diffusion (AESD) has been reported as the most frequent type among acute encephalopathy syndromes in the pediatric population in Japan.

We evaluated the usefulness of expanding the indications of early rescue ICSI to cases in which <80% of oocytes have extruded second polar bodies 6 h after insemination.
Methods: Early rescue ICSI was performed on oocytes that were denuded 2.
Purpose: When rescue artificial oocyte activation (ROA) is performed on the day after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) or later, embryonic development is poor and seldom results in live births. The efficacy of an early ROA after ICSI is unclear. Is early ROA effective in rescuing unfertilized oocytes that have not undergone second polar body extrusion several hours after ICSI?
Methods: We performed retrospective cohort study between October 2016 and September 2019, targeting 2891 oocytes in 843 cycles when ICSI was performed.
We previously performed genetic analysis in six unrelated families with infantile limb pain episodes, characterized by cold-induced deterioration and mitigation in adolescence, and reported two new mutations p.R222H/S in SCN11A responsible for these episodes. As no term described this syndrome (familial episodic pain: FEP) in Japanese, we named it as"".

In addition to their antihyperglycemic effect, SGLT2 inhibitors also reduce body weight and fat mass in obese and overweight patients with T2DM. However, whether or not SGLT2 inhibitors similarly affect body composition of non-obese patients with T2DM remains unclear.

We investigated the synergistic effect of AS2575959, a novel GPR40 agonist, in combination with sitagliptin, a major dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibitor, on glucose-dependent insulin secretion and GLP-1 secretion. In addition, we investigated the chronic effects of AS2575959 on whole-body glucose metabolism.

This study aimed to discover novel GPR40 agonists and investigate the whole-body effect on glucose metabolism of GPR40 activation using these novel GPR40 agonists. To identify novel GPR40-specific agonists, we conducted high-throughput chemical compound screening and evaluated glucose-dependent insulin secretion.

Identification of genes that are upregulated or downregulated during decidualisation could lead to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in this process. In the present study, we examined differences in gene expression between decidualised and non-decidualised cells using microarray analysis and found that Factor XII (FXII) gene expression was upregulated during decidualisation.

For differently oriented ZnO thin films following removal of the respective structure-directing agent (SDA) and adsorption of a sensitiser, time-resolved photocurrent measurements, intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS), intensity modulated photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS) and current-voltage curves were measured in acetonitrile-based electrolytes containing I(3)(-)/I(-) as the redox electrolyte. The crystal orientation has a significant influence on the charge transport across such films and hence is reflected in the observed electrode kinetics.

Methods: FK614 (1, 3.2 or 10 mg/kg) and a TZD PPARgamma agonist, pioglitazone (1, 3.
Purpose: To elucidate the promoter region of human decidual prolactin (dPRL) gene in the human endometrial stromal cells (ESC).
Methods: Various segments of the human dPRL promoter that direct the expression of the secreted alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) reporter gene were transfected into human ESC decidualized by estrogen (E) + progesterone (P) or cyclic AMP (cAMP) to identify E + P or cAMP responsive elements.
Results: The region between nucleotides -2038 and -1605 relative to the transcriptional initiation site includes two activator protein-1 (AP-1) sites, which both provided maximal response to E + P or cAMP in decidualized cells.
Hybrid thin films of crystalline ZnO modified by 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrinato zinc (TSTPPZn) and 2,9,16,23-tetrasulfophthalocyaninatozinc(II) (TSPcZn) were prepared by electrochemical deposition from aqueous zinc salt solutions. A "one-step" process with the sensitisers adsorbed during ZnO deposition represented the most simple approach. ZnO was also grown independently in the presence of Eosin Y as a structure-directing agent, which was then removed and the sensitisers were chemisorbed from solutions ("readsorption" method).

Intensity-modulated photocurrent spectra were measured at different electrode potentials at films of different thicknesses. It was found that the results represent either the RC constant of the cell and surface recombination of photogenerated holes with electrons or the diffusion of photogenerated electrons and are dependent on the electron concentration in the ZnO, which is influenced by the film thickness, the electrode potential, and the light intensity.

To clarify the involvement of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in endometrial remodeling, we isolated total RNAs from the endometrium of non-pregnant and pregnant mice on days 3 to 5 and evaluated mRNA expression of MMP-2, -3, -9, -11 and -13 using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Prompt increases in MMP-3 and -13 mRNA were found on day 4 of pregnancy.
