Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how Cangzhu Erchen decoction (CZECD) helps treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by using advanced techniques like microarray analysis, network pharmacology, and molecular docking to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms.
  • - Researchers identified 140 compounds from CZECD and over 5,100 COPD-related targets, pinpointing key targets like SRC, PIK3CA, and STAT3 that contribute to CZECD's anti-COPD effects.
  • - Functional analyses showed CZECD influences processes such as protein phosphorylation and inflammation, primarily through key pathways like cancer and PI3K/AKT, reaffirmed by molecular docking results that demonstrated strong interactions between the compounds and targets.*

Background: Entamoeba infection-associated diseases (EIADs) in humans are a worldwide public health problem, but there is a lack of a global picture of EIADs, which is vital to prevention and control.

Methods: We applied 2019 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data collected from multiple sources at global, national and regional levels. The disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) with corresponding 95% uncertainty intervals (95% UIs) were extracted as the main measure of the burden of EIADs.

Article Synopsis
  • Mumps is a contagious disease with a study focusing on its epidemiological features and sociodemographic factors in mainland China from 2004 to 2018.
  • The average annual incidence was 21.44 cases per 100,000 people, showing a dramatic increase from 2004-2012, followed by stability, except for a significant rise in less developed regions from 2015 to 2018.
  • Key findings identified high-risk areas and factors, such as the proportion of the population aged 0-14, number of healthcare workers, and passenger traffic, which can guide targeted interventions by the government.

Background: The prevalence of pulmonary embolism (PE) in the acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AE-COPD) is highly controversial. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the epidemiology and characteristics of PE with AE-COPD for current studies.

Methods: We searched the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases for studies published prior to October 21, 2020.
