The chemosensor properties of a bimetallic terbium(III)/copper(II) complex functionalized with a 4-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,3-triazole ligand for the detection of Cu ions and, aqueous and gaseous hydrogen sulfide was investigated. The 4-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,3-triazole ligand functions both as an antenna chromophore and a receptor for Cu ions; the Cu complex was shown to be a chemosensor for the detection of aqueous hydrogen sulfide. The chemosensor exhibited significant reversibility over multiple cycles, observed with the sequential addition of NaS followed by Cu ions.

Two previous reports claimed to have isolated the carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase (CCD) responsible for the production of the putative precursor of bixin, the C24 apocarotenal bixin dialdehyde. HL is a ditopic ligand which provides dinuclear neutral complexes of composition [Ln(L)(MeOH)] (Ln = La (1), Eu (2), Tb (3), and Yb (4)) in very good yield. Background: The latest studies presented at the American Heart Association (AHA) meeting on heart failure and the update of the European Cardiology Society's (ECS) recommendations on heart failure in 2016 recommend intravenous iron supplementation in patients with heart failure, reduced ejection fraction and iron deficiency for improves walking performance and quality of life, and reduces morbidity. In the present study, we investigated the prevalence of iron deficiency in heart failure patients aged 75 years or older, as there is currently no data on these patients.
Methods: We performed an observational study on hospitalized patients in Geriatric Cardiology Department.
Background: Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is an unicellular green alga used for functional genomics studies and heterologous protein expression. A major hindrance in these studies is the low level and instability of expression of nuclear transgenes, due to their rearrangement and/or silencing over time.
Results: We constructed dedicated vectors for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation carrying, within the T-DNA borders, the Paromomycin (Paro) selectable marker and an expression cassette containing the Luciferase (Luc) reporter gene.
We report on the development and characterization of high performance supercapacitor electrodes synthesized using electrophoretic deposition of graphene, upon which the poly(pyrrole)-layer was electropolymerised. The highly capacitive electrode had a specific capacitance of 1510 F g(-1), area capacitance of 151 mF cm(-2) and volume capacitance of 151 F cm(-3) at 10 mV s(-1).

Objective: To estimate the annual risk of infection with tubercle bacilli in the northern zone of India.
Methods: A community-based cross-sectional tuberculin survey was conducted among children aged 1-9 years who lived in a sample of villages and urban blocks of six selected districts in a defined north zone of India. A two-stage cluster sampling method was used to select rural and urban clusters.

The study was done to know whether the powders of Phyllanthus amarus plants favourably influence the duration of disease in patients with acute viraus B hepatitis when compared to placebo. The powders of the plant were given in capsule form (300 mg capsules--3 capsules--3 capsules thrice daily) and an antacid powder in similar capsule was used as placebo. Persons with encephalopathy, preexisting medical conditions or serum bilirubin above 350 iu/l were excluded from the study.
