This article studies the problem of stabilizing a leader-follower formation specified by a set of bearing constraints while disturbed by some unknown uniformly bounded disturbances. A set of leaders are positioned at their desired positions while each follower is modeled by a single integrator with an additive time-varying disturbance. Adaptive variable-structure control laws using displacements or only bearing vectors are applied to stabilize the desired formation.

Co-pyrolysis of fly ash with sewage sludge for PCDD/F removal.

Fly ash generated from municipal waste incineration (MWI) contains various toxic substances, and it has to be properly treated before disposal or reuse. Water washing and thermal pyrolysis can improve the destruction efficiency of PCDD/Fs in fly ash generated from municipal solid waste incinerators. Since sulfur oxides and nitrogen compounds generated by the heating of the sewage sludge poison the catalytic active sites for PCDD/Fs formation on fly ash surface, co-pyrolysis of fly ash with sewage sludge effectively inhibits precursor formation and de novo synthesis reaction, resulting in the great reduction of PCDD/F formation.

Chlorinated benzenes (CBzs) are a group of organic pollutants, which have been industrially or unintentionally produced through various chemical and thermal processes. Studies on full congener profiles of CBzs in waste and environmental samples are relatively limited and not updated. Risk assessment of microplastic exposure: A case study near a refinery factory at the central coast of Vietnam.

The goal of this study was to identify the presence of microplastics on the beach near a refinery in the central coast of Vietnam. In this study, 11 sampling sites were selected within a length of 300 m of the beach. The results showed that microplastics were presented in all collected samples with an average concentration of 1582 ± 660 MPs/kg.

Ozone catalytic oxidation of toluene over triple perovskite-type catalysts modified with KMnO.

A unique triple perovskite-type catalyst was successfully synthesized using the simple sol-gel approach, and surface acid modification was added to improve the ozone catalytic oxidation (OZCO) process ability to remove toluene more effectively. Our study indicates that LaMnCuNiO catalyst treated with KMnO shows the best toluene oxidation activity. At 250 °C, the rates of conversion and mineralization were 100% and 83%, respectively, under thermal catalytic system when CH concentration = 500 ppm.

The Distribution of Autoantibodies by Age Group in Children with Type 1 Diabetes versus Type 2 Diabetes in Southern Vietnam.

Asian children are increasingly being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) or type 2 diabetes (T2D), and the presence of coexisting islet autoimmune antibodies complicate diagnosis. Here, we aimed to determine the prevalence of islet cell autoantibodies (ICAs) and glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 autoantibodies (GADAs) in children with T1D versus T2D living in Vietnam. This cross-sectional study included 145 pediatric patients aged 10.

Background: Stickler (STL) and Wagner (WGN) syndromes are rare inherited vitreoretinopathies associated with retinal detachments (RD). There is a paucity of case reports describing these diseases in African American patients.

Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Orbit in a 5-Month-Old Infant.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors are mesenchymal neoplasms composed of spindle cells and inflammatory infiltrate. The authors describe a 5-month-old infant with orbital inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, the youngest patient currently reported in the literature. The histo-pathology, orbital apex location, and patient's age led to a chemotherapy-driven treatment using crizotinib with near-complete resolution of the tumor.
