Chicken heart is the by-product of great amount in poultry industry owing to concentrated slaughter development, however, whose potential in food application is unclear. The gelation of chicken heart has great difficulties due to the muscle structure and protein structure of the heart. Therefore, different levels of sodium alginate (SA) were added into chicken heart batter (CHB) to investigate the gelation strategies.

Study Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is characterized by disordered breathing during sleep and is associated with major cardiovascular complications. Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) as an important treatment for obesity and diabetes mellitus show promising therapeutic prospect in OSA. We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of GLP-1RA intervention in OSA individuals.

Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder with high prevalence that profoundly affects millions of people worldwide. Inflammatory dysregulation affects central nervous system disorders including epilepsy, and YTHDF1, the most common "reader" of m6A and m6A-binding protein, can attenuate the inflammatory response and activate PTEN, and here we aimed to investigate its effect on epilepsy through epigenetics. All mice were injected intraperitoneally with 12 mg/kg of sea manic acid to establish an epilepsy model, and the epileptic behaviors of the mice were classified into 6 grades; epileptic behaviors of grade 3 or above were defined as seizures, and consecutive epileptic seizures of more than 30 min were considered as successful modeling.

Background: Obesity is a rapidly increasing health problem in China, causing massive economic and health losses annually. Many techniques have emerged to help people with obesity better adhere to intervention programs and achieve their weight loss goals, including food replacement and internet-delivered weight loss consultations. Most studies on weight loss interventions mainly focused on the change in body weight or BMI; however, body fat, especially visceral fat mass, is considered the main pathogenic factor in obesity.

To explore the influence of recent high-altitude residential history on the optimal cutoff of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) for detecting abnormal glucose metabolism. The study included 505 self-reported healthy Han participants of age 18-65 years, recruited in Chengdu and categorized based on recent (within 3 months) high-altitude (>2,500 m) residential history. The 1999 WHO criteria was used as the gold standard for defining prediabetes and diabetes.

Article Synopsis
  • Previous studies on obesity's impact on bone mineral density (BMD) have shown mixed results, prompting this research to explore how body composition affects BMD and serum sclerostin levels in overweight and obese adults.
  • The study found positive correlations between fat mass and lean mass with spinal and pelvic BMD, with lean mass showing a stronger impact in women; visceral fat was negatively correlated with BMD in women only.
  • Additionally, while serum sclerostin levels were positively linked to BMD, they were not related to body composition, indicating that sex and specific skeletal sites play a significant role in the relationship between body composition and BMD.

Background: Hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common liver surgery complication. This study aims to explore the effect and potential mechanism of Sunitinib - a multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor - on hepatic IRI.

Methods: We established a hepatic IRI model using C57BL/6 mice, and integrated 40 mg/kg of Sunitinib, solely or combined with 100 μg/kg of coumermycin A1 (C-A1), in the treatment strategy.

  • Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) is a virus that causes serious health problems in piglets, like extreme diarrhea and dehydration.
  • A protein called Grb2 helps cells communicate and plays a role in controlling PDCoV infections by activating certain signaling pathways to fight the virus.
  • The study shows how PDCoV's own protein interacts with Grb2 to disable the body's defenses, helping the virus to survive and spread.

Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh (BLE Mesh) enables Bluetooth flexibility and coverage by introducing Low-Power Nodes (LPNs) and enhanced networking protocol. It is also a commonly used communication method in sensor networks. In BLE Mesh, LPNs are periodically woken to exchange messages in a stop-and-wait way, where the tradeoff between energy and efficiency is a hard problem.

Vitamin D3 plays a crucial role in female reproduction. As research progresses, the mechanisms of action of vitamin D3 on follicular development have been widely discussed. Firstly, key enzymes involved in the synthesis and metabolism of vitamin D3 have been discovered in the ovary, suggesting that vitamin D3 can be synthesized and metabolized locally within the ovary.
