Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated how different growth densities affect interactions among Glycyrrhiza uralensis plants, focusing on their growth and biomass.
  • - Findings revealed that higher densities led to earlier fast growth periods but shorter durations, along with a decrease in individual biomass and glycyrrhizinic acid content.
  • - In contrast, while individual plant growth measures declined with increased density, the overall population biomass rose, highlighting a complex relationship between plant density and productivity.

In this paper, the 32P radio-tracer technique was applied to study the ways of phosphorus transfer between poplar (Populus euramericana cv. 'I-214') and black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). A five compartment root box (18 cm x 18 cm x 26 cm) was used for testing the existence of the hyphal links between the roots of two tree species when inoculated with vesicular-arbuscular (VA) mycorrhizal fungus (Glomus mosseae).

The change of soil moisture retention after planting mixed forest of Populus spp. and Robinia pseudoacacia was studied by comparative method. The results showed that soil moisture retention, spatial distribution of soil pore, and soil water capacity were improved and increased in sandy soil after Populus spp.
