Article Synopsis
  • * In August 2023, wheat plants in Yunnan showed signs of FHB, with about 10% of the plants affected, making them look bleached and wilted.
  • * Scientists collected samples and grew them in the lab to identify the specific types of fungi causing FHB, and they prepared genetic sequences for further research.

Wheat hybrids have been widely demonstrated to have remarkable heterosis or hybrid vigor in increasing yield potential and stability since the 1960s. Two-line hybrid wheat can achieve higher yields than local varieties, especially in marginal environments. However, the commercial application of hybrid wheat is hindered by higher seed costs, primarily due to lower yields in hybrid seed production.

Crystals with noncentrosymmetric structures are applied in many fields, but reported compounds have a high probability of forming a centrosymmetric structure. Here, by hydrogen-bonding the π-conjugated [CHNO] cation with the separated [SiF] octahedron, a noncentrosymmetric isoquinoline hexafluorosilicate monohydrate optical crystal of [CHNO]SiF·HO was formed under the regulatory influence of hydrogen bonding. It not only possesses a moderate second harmonic generation response (1.

In this study, new hybrid birefringent crystals of (CHNO)[BiBr]·2HO and (CHNO)[BiCl]Cl·2HO were successfully synthesized by introducing a new birefringent group [CHNO] by a simple aqueous solution evaporation method. They crystallize in the 2/ space group, and their structure consists mainly of the π-conjugated group [CHNO] and the octahedron centered on Bi. By first-principles calculations, the birefringence response comes from the [CHNO] group with a planar π-conjugated structure.

A large optical anisotropy is the most important parameter of birefringent crystals. Integrating π-conjugated groups with large polarizable anisotropy into target compounds is a common strategy for constructing brilliant birefringent crystals. However, the key problem is to enhance the density of the birefringence-active units and further arrange them parallelly.

(Dermateaceae: Helotiales) is known as a significant pathogen causing target spot disease and results in profound yield loss. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) determined based on next-generation sequencing technology. The circular mitogenome (56,935 bp) comprised 14 conserved protein-coding genes (PCGs), 16 ORFs, two ribosomal RNA genes (rns and rnl), one non-coding RNA gene (rnpB), one ribosomal protein S3 (rps3) and 28 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes.

Background: Two-line hybrid wheat system using thermo-photo sensitive genic male sterility (TPSGMS) is currently the most promising approach for wheat heterosis utilization in China. However, during past 20 years only few TPSGMS lines were developed in hybrid wheat breeding, which has been the main limiting factor to create heterotic hybrids. Application of doubled haploid (DH) breeding provides a useful strategy to efficiently develop practically usable TPSGMS lines.

Electrical Tomography (ET) is an advanced visualization technique, which can reconstruct all targets in an investigated field based on boundary measurements. Since the spatial resolution in the ET process can be greatly affected by the selected similarity norm, different norms may result in different ET time and spatial resolutions. In the tomographic applications nowadays, Bregman divergence (BD) has attracted increasing attention.

The information collected through multi-environment testing of wheat genotypes not only provides basis to identify promising genotypes but also to ascertain their yield potential and the genetic gains. For this purpose, in the presented study, the data originated from the Yunnan provincial Regional Yield Trials (RYT) conducted during 2006 and 2018 was used. During this period, 107 genotypes were evaluated at 18 locations under Upland Wheat (UW) management scheme, while 116 genotypes were evaluated at 21 locations under Field Wheat (FW) management scheme.

is known as a significant causal agent in relation to brown spot disease of rice and causes significant yield losses. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome was determined using next-generation sequencing technology. This complete mitogenome is a circular molecule of 124,887 bp in length.

Enzymatic hydrolytic degradation of polybutylene succinate (PBS), poly(polybutylenesuccinate-co-1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol) (PBS/CHDM) and poly(polybutylene succinate-co-diglycolic acid) (PBS/DGA) in mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and toluene was examined. Lipase was used as catalyst to degrade polymers with molecular weight of more than 100,000, and the molecular weight of products ranged from hundreds to thousands. Thermal decomposition temperatures of all products were below 250°C.
