Dual Tunable Electromagnetically Induced Transparency Based on a Grating-Assisted Double-Layer Graphene Hybrid Structure at Terahertz Frequencies.

We propose a graphene plasmonic structure by applying two graphene layers mingled with a thin gold layer in a silicon grating. By utilizing the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, we investigate the optical response of the system, and observe that the design achieves dual tunable electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)-like effect at terahertz frequencies. The EIT-like effect arises from the destructive interference between the grapheme-layer bright modes and the gold-layer dark mode.

The m6A methylation regulates gonadal sex differentiation in chicken embryo.

Background: As a ubiquitous reversible epigenetic RNA modification, N6-methyladenosine (m6A) plays crucial regulatory roles in multiple biological pathways. However, its functional mechanisms in sex determination and differentiation during gonadal development of chicken embryos are not clear. Therefore, we established a transcriptome-wide m6A map in the female and male chicken left gonads of embryonic day 7 (E7) by methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP-seq) to offer insight into the landscape of m6A methylation and investigate the post-transcriptional modification underlying gonadal differentiation.

Olfactory Proteins and Their Expression Profiles in the Pest Larvae.

Walker (Lepidoptera: Hepialidae), a polyphagous insect, has become a new wood-boring pest in Eucalyptus plantations in southern China since 2007, which represents a typical example of native insect adaptation to an exotic host. The Correlation between Chitin and Acidic Mammalian Chitinase in Animal Models of Allergic Asthma.

Asthma is the result of chronic inflammation of the airways which subsequently results in airway hyper-responsiveness and airflow obstruction. It has been shown that an elicited expression of acidic mammalian chitinase (AMCase) may be involved in the pathogenesis of asthma. Our recent study has demonstrated that the specific suppression of elevated AMCase leads to reduced eosinophilia and Th2-mediated immune responses in an ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized mouse model of allergic asthma.

Chicken domestication: an updated perspective based on mitochondrial genomes.

Domestic chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) fulfill various roles ranging from food and entertainment to religion and ornamentation. To survey its genetic diversity and trace the history of domestication, we investigated a total of 4938 mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) fragments including 2843 previously published and 2095 de novo units from 2044 domestic chickens and 51 red junglefowl (Gallus gallus). To obtain the highest possible level of molecular resolution, 50 representative samples were further selected for total mtDNA genome sequencing.

Methods: Rabbit ADSCs were obtained, cultured, and transfected with Ad-hTGF-beta2 containing human transforming growth factor (hTGF)-beta2.
