Drug resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma has posed significant obstacles to effective treatment. Recent evidence indicates that, in addition to traditional gene mutations, epigenetic recoding plays a crucial role in HCC drug resistance. Unlike irreversible gene mutations, epigenetic changes are reversible, offering a promising avenue for preventing and overcoming drug resistance in liver cancer.

The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of combining low-dose cyclophosphamide with lenvatinib, pembrolizumab and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the treatment of uHCC.
Methods: From February 2022 to November 2023, a total of 40 patients diagnosed with uHCC were enrolled in this small-dose, single-center, single-arm, prospective study.
Background: Observational studies have previously shown a potential link between psycho-emotional disorders, such as mood swings, highly strung, anxious feelings, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, the credibility of these associations could be influenced by various confounding factors. Consequently, our study sought to employ a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach to elucidate a potential causal relationship between psycho-emotional disorders and GERD.

Postoperative adjuvant external radiation therapy (RT) has been shown to effectively prevent recurrence after liver cancer resection. However, there are multiple RT techniques available, and the differential effects of these techniques in preventing postoperative liver cancer recurrence require further investigation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLong non-coding RNAs have been reported to play a crucial role in tumor progression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Lnc-ZEB2-19 has been validated to be deficiently expressed in HCC. However, the capabilities and underlying mechanisms of lnc-ZEB2-19 remain uncertain.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main pathological type of primary liver cancer, accounting for 75%-85% of cases. In recent years, radiotherapy has become an emerging treatment for HCC and is effective for various stages of HCC.

However, the role of circRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains incompletely understood. Therefore, we further explored the expression network of circRNAs in HCC.

We aimed to construct a model based on MVI-Related Genes (MVIRGs) for risk assessment and prognosis prediction in patients with HCC. This study utilized various statistical analysis methods for prognostic model construction and validation in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) cohorts, respectively.

Here, we sought to explore the ceRNA function of circRNA Jupiter microtubule associated homolog 1 (circ_HN1) in gastric tumorigenesis. Circ_HN1, microRNA (miR)-628-5p, and NT5E expression levels were quantified by qRT-PCR and western blot.

However, the mechanism of ENO3 in NAFLD remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of ENO3 in the progression of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and NASH model.

We analyzed Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) DataSet micro-ribonucleic acid (miRNA) profiling datasets to identify miRNAs that could have value as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We adopted several computing methods to identify the functional roles of these miRNAs.

Thus, we collected existing studies on postoperative adjuvant therapies for patients with HCC with MVI after curative resection and analyzed the effects of various adjuvant therapies.
Method: We collected all studies on postoperative adjuvant therapy for patients with HCC with MVI after curative resection from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and SinoMed ending on May 1, 2019.
Effective therapies for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are urgently needed. We investigated the effect of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) on the intestinal flora in NASH treatment. We isolated the hMSCs from the umbilical cords and divided male C57BL/6 mice into three groups, namely, chow, methionine-choline-deficient (MCD), and MCD+hMSCs.

Background: Telemedicine has been used widely in China and has benefited a large number of patients, but little is known about the overall development of telemedicine.
Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a national survey to identify the overall implementation and application of telemedicine in Chinese tertiary hospitals and provide a scientific basis for the successful expansion of telemedicine in the future.
Methods: The method of probability proportionate to size sampling was adopted to collect data from 161 tertiary hospitals in 29 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.
BDH2 is a short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase family member involved in several biological and pathological processes, including the utilization of cytosolic ketone bodies, immunocyte regulation and tumor progression. In this study, we first revealed that BDH2 was downregulated in HCC tissues by qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry analysis and that low BHD2 expression was significantly associated with poor overall survival, poor tumor differentiation, increased tumor size, venous invasion and an advanced BCLC stage. Moreover, the results of a univariate analysis and multivariate analysis revealed that BDH2 may be regarded as an independent prognostic marker.

Background: The 5-hydroxytryptamine7 receptor (5-HT(7) receptor, 5-HT(7)R) plays an important role in the regulation of smooth muscle relaxation and visceral sensation and might be involved in the pathogenesis of the gastrointestinal dyskinesia, abdominal pain and visceral paresthesia in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the 5-HT(7) receptor in the pathogenesis of IBS.
