Heat stress (HS) has become a common stressor, owing to the increasing frequency of extreme high-temperature weather triggered by global warming, which has seriously affected the reproductive capacity of important livestock such as sheep. However, little is known about whether HS reduces sperm motility by inducing circadian rhythm disorders in rumen microorganisms and metabolites in sheep. In this study, the year-round reproduction of two-year-old Hu rams was selected, and the samples were collected in May and July 2022 at average environmental temperatures between 18.

Article Synopsis
  • SARS-CoV-2 variants are emerging and challenging the immunity gained from previous infections and vaccinations, prompting a study on antibody responses over six months.* -
  • The research shows that most vaccinated or previously infected individuals develop antibodies against several variants, but there is significant immune evasion with newer strains like XBB.1.5, EG.5.1, and BA.2.86 compared to the original virus.* -
  • Around 57% of individuals in the study experienced re-infection, which boosted their antibody levels, suggesting that repeated exposure may enhance immunity against these evolving variants.*

Traffic congestion not only has a great impact on people's travel, but also increases energy consumption and air pollution. The control analysis of the macroscopic traffic flow model considering the vehicle braking effect is particularly important, reflecting the impact on the actual traffic flow density wave, so as to better solve the actual traffic problems. In this paper, based on a speed difference optimization speed model, the micro-macro-variables are transformed into a high-order continuous traffic flow model.

Background: Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog () mutation seemingly suffered less effective therapeutic regimens in the absence of widely-accepted targeted drugs compared with other mutation types in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, whether these non-selective therapy schedules for mutation matters is still under debate. Correspondingly, we aimed to compare the long term expectancy of indicated therapeutic regimes and further explore the optimal schemes of mutated NSCLC in the absence of targeted drugs in this retrospective study cohort.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly invasive malignant tumor with pronounced proliferation capacity and is prone to epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and subsequent metastasis. A disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-like decysin 1 (ADAMDEC1) is a proteolytically active metzincin metalloprotease that is involved in extracellular matrix remodeling, cell adhesion, invasion, and migration. However, the effects of ADAMDEC1 on CRC are unclear.

Lake Luoma is an important storage lake for the Eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (NSBD), which has many functions including flood control and irrigation, drinking water supply, and ecological maintenance. In order to understand the succession patterns and driving factors of water quality in Lake Luoma, we used monthly monitoring data from 2009 to 2020 in combination with historical data from 1996 to 2008. The long-term succession patterns, seasonal dynamics, and spatial patterns of total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), permanganate index, and ammonia nitrogen (NH-N) were examined, and the influence of meteorological and hydrological factors on water quality was explored through correlation analyses and generalized additive models.

Bacterial resistance is a growing threat to public health and a significant barrier to anti-infective treatment. Consequently, the development of novel antibacterial strategies to address this issue is critical. Herein, we developed a series of chalcone-alkyl-lysine compounds by mimicking the chemical structure and antibacterial properties of cationic antimicrobial peptides.

Aminocyclopropanes are versatile building blocks for accessing high value-added nitrogen-containing products. To control ring-opening promoted by ring strain, the Lewis acid activation of donor-acceptor substituted systems is now well established. Over the last decade, alternative approaches have emerged proceeding the formation of radical intermediates, alleviating the need for double activation of the cyclopropanes.

  • This study aimed to summarize data on celiac disease (CD) in high-risk populations in Guangdong Province, China, and to conduct a meta-analysis of its prevalence in both general and high-risk groups.
  • A serological survey of 1,390 individuals revealed that only 0.94% tested positive for CD antibodies, while a meta-analysis showed a seroprevalence of 0.27% in the general population and 8.34% in high-risk populations.
  • The findings suggest there is a geographic variation in CD prevalence, and the authors recommend early serological screening for high-risk individuals, especially in northern China, to improve diagnosis.

Diamines are essential building blocks for the synthesis of agrochemicals, drugs, and organic materials, yet their synthesis remains challenging, as both nitrogens need to be differentiated and diverse substitution patterns (1,2, 1,3, or 1,4) are required. We report herein a new strategy giving access to 1,2, 1,3, and 1,4 amido azides as orthogonally protected diamines based on the nitrogen-directed diazidation of alkenes, cyclopropanes, and cyclobutanes. Commercially available copper thiophene-2-carboxylate (CuTc, 2 mol %) as catalyst promoted the diazidation of both π and σ C-C bonds within 10 min in the presence of readily available oxidants and trimethylsilyl azide.
