A novel and interesting controllable spirocyclization of unsaturated barbiturates with enamino esters for the assembly of cyclopentenyl and pyrrolinyl spirobarbiturates has been developed under ball-milling conditions. The present protocol features high chemoselectivity and efficiency, excellent functional group tolerance and mild reaction conditions.

Methods: Symptomatic patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaques who underwent carotid vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging between 2002-2005 and 2012-2015 were retrospectively recruited. Plaque morphology [including mean wall area, wall thickness, and maximum normalized wall index (NWI)] and composition [including calcification, intraplaque hemorrhage, and lipid-rich necrotic core (LRNC)] in symptomatic carotid arteries were evaluated and compared between patients in these two time periods.
Iminodiacetic acid (IDA) is widely used as an intermediate in the manufacturing of chelating agents, glyphosate herbicides and surfactants. To improve activity and tolerance to the substrate for IDA production, Acidovorax facilis nitrilase was selected for further modification by the gene site saturation mutagenesis method. After screened by a two-step screening method, the best mutant (Mut-F168V/T201N/S192F/M191T/F192S) was selected.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted among 44 patients with unilateral IPH (30 cases) or bilateral IPH (14 cases) in the carotid plaques detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in our hospital between December, 2009 and December, 2012. The age, maximum wall thickness and incidence of fibrous cap rupture were compared between the two groups.
Background: Ginseng is Chinese traditional herbal medicine, and the ginsenoside Rg3 is the main bioactive ingredient for the anti-tumor effect. However, there is no study on pharmacokinetics (PKs) of ginsenoside Rg3 and its main metabolite after oral ginsenoside Rg3 in tumor-bearing plasma. The aim of this study was to investigate the PK profiles of ginsenoside Rg3 and ginsenoside Rh2 after oral administration of pure ginsenoside Rg3 were administered, and compare the difference of the PK profiles between normal and Walker 256 tumor-bearing rats.

The dimension-dependent dielectric properties and microwave absorption performance of MoS2 were investigated by presenting a comparative study between MoS2-NS and MoS2-Bulk. Our results show that the imaginary permittivity (ε'') of MoS2-NS/wax is twice as large as that of MoS2-Bulk/wax.

Lightweight microwave absorber with thermal stability and high efficiency is a highly sought-after goal of researchers. Tuning microwave absorption to meet the harsh requirements of thermal environments has been a great challenge.

Method: Three concentrations materials for high, middle and low were dubbed with Sini decoction as a model drug, and pretreated by 50 thousand relative molecular weight cut-off ultrafiltration membrane. The viscosity, turbidity, conductivity, salinity, TDS, pH value and osmotic pressure of each sample were determined after the reverse osmosis to study the physical and chemical parameters between their respective correlations with the osmotic pressure, and characterized by HPLC chromatograms showing changes before and after the main chemical composition of samples of reverse osmosis.
Rapid advancements in carbon-based fillers have enabled a new and more promising platform in the development of electromagnetic attenuation composites. Alignment of fillers in composites with specific structures and morphologies has been widely pursued to achieve high performance based on taking advantage of unique filler characteristics. In this work, few-layer graphene (FLG), obtained from direct exfoliation of graphite, was fabricated into paraffin wax to prepare FLG/wax composites and investigate their electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance.

Transmission electron microscopy measurements show that the diameter of the Fe(3)O(4)@Fe core/shell nanoparitcles is about 18 nm, the Fe(3)O(4) shell's thickness is about 5 nm, and the diameter of ZnO nanoparticles is in range of 2-10 nm. The measured electromagnetic parameters show that the absorption bandwidth with reflection loss less than -20 dB is up to 7.
