Cardiac myeloperoxidase activity is elevated in hypertensive pregnant rats.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is released from activated neutrophils. The inflammation in preeclampsia was found to be associated with endothelial dysfunction. We hypothesized that cardiac and circulating MPO levels are elevated in hypertensive pregnancy.
