Genome-Based Mining of Carpatamides I-M and Their Candidate Biosynthetic Gene Cluster.

Chemically investigating the marine-derived 1268 led to the isolation of a new compound of carpatamide I (). Subsequent genomic analysis identified its candidate biosynthetic gene cluster of approximately 44 kb. In order to obtain more carpatamide derivatives, we conducted the upregulation of Ctd14, which is a positive regulator, and obtained improvement of carpatamide I and four new compounds of carpatamides J-M (-).

Effects of arctiin on streptozotocin-induced diabetic retinopathy in Sprague-Dawley rats.

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common and severe complications of diabetes mellitus. Arctiin, a bioactive compound isolated from the dry seeds of Arctium lappa L., has been reported to have antidiabetic activity.

Two new chamigrane metabolites from fermentation broth of Steccherinum ochraceum.

Two new chamigrane-type metabolites named steperoxides C (1) and D (2) were isolated from the basidiomycetes Steccherinum ochraceum. The structures of 1 and 2 were established on the basis of spectral methods (MS, IR, ID and 2D NMR experiments). Compounds 2 showed significant antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus at 10 and 5 μg/disk.
