Despite of decades of efforts, novel approaches are still limited to attenuate or prevent skin scarring. A previous report published in Science demonstrated that inhibition of YAP promotes scarless wound repair by regeneration. Due to the difficult drugability of targeting YAP, we speculated that inhibition of TEAD, a partner molecule of YAP, might exist similar therapeutic potential.

To date, glucocorticoids remain the mainstay of treatment of nephrotic syndrome (NS). However, serious side effects and development of drug-resistance following long-term use limit the application of glucocorticoids. Protopanaxadiol (PPD) possesses activity of dissociating transactivation from transrepression by glucocorticoid receptor (GR), which may serve as a potential selective GR modulator.

Objectives: Immature platelet fraction (IPF) for differentiating bacteremia has been explored, whereas its prognostic correlation remains uncertain. This study aims to confirm the predictive capability of IPF for bacteremia and investigate its association with prognosis.

Methods: Patients with complete blood count (CBC) on the blood culture day (D1) and the preceding day (D0) were retrospectively recruited and categorized into bacteremia and nonbacteremia groups.

Novel therapeutics for the treatment of ischemic stroke remains to be the unmet clinical needs. Previous studies have indicated that salvianolic acid A (SAA) is a promising candidate for the treatment of the brain diseases. However, SAA has poor absolute bioavailability and does not efficiently cross the intact blood-brain barrier (BBB), which limit its efficacy.

Article Synopsis
  • Observational studies hint that higher vitamin levels in the blood might lower heart failure (HF) risk, but it's unclear if there's a direct cause-and-effect relationship.
  • The research used Mendelian randomization, analyzing genetic data to assess how different vitamins (A, B, C, D, E) relate to the risk of developing HF in large populations.
  • Results showed no significant causal link between vitamin levels and HF risk, suggesting that increasing vitamin intake might not directly prevent heart failure.

Study Design And Methods: In order to determine the therapeutic effect and mechanism of paeonol on acute kidney injury induced by endotoxin, an acute kidney injury model was established by intraperitoneal administration of lipopolysaccharide in mice in vivo and on LPS-induced dendritic cells in vitro. Renal tissues were used for histologic examination. Concentrations of blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine were detected, inflammatory cytokines were determined by ELISA.

Background: The increasing prevalence of multi-drug resistant fungal infections has encouraged the search for new antifungal agents. Hydrazone derivatives always exhibited diversity activities, including antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, anti-cancer activity. Regarding the heterocyclic moiety, 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine derivatives also display broad activities, such as antifungal activity, anticonvulsant activity, herbicidal activity, antimicrobial activity and anticancer activity.

A series of novel pyrazole amide derivatives were designed and synthesized by multi-step reactions from phenylhydrazine and ethyl 3-oxobutanoate as starting materials, and their structures were characterized by NMR, MS and elemental analysis. The antifungal activity of the title compounds was determined. The results indicated that some of title compounds exhibited moderate antifungal activity.

A series of novel 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridin-3(2H)-one derivatives were synthesized and identified by (1)H NMR, single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis or HRMS, and their herbicidal activities were determined at different concentrations. It was found that some of the title compounds possess high herbicidal activity. Furthermore, DFT calculation was used to study the SAR.
