The results showed that the Spirulina and the mixture of Spirulina and ferrous fumarate could promote the development of intestinal villi, increase the thickness of intestinal muscular layer. Additionally, high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene revealed that the Spirulina and the mixture of Spirulina and ferrous fumarate could alter the composition, diversity, and richness of intestinal microbial communities.
