However, an essential barrier to this therapy in solid tumors is disrupting the anti-cancer immune response, cancer-immunity cycle, T-cell priming, trafficking and T-cell cytotoxic capacity. Thus, reinforcing the anti-cancer immune response is needed to improve the effectiveness of T-cell-mediated therapy.

In this study, the impact of acetylation on physicochemical, digestive behavior and fermentation characteristics of Cyperus esculentus polysaccharides (CEP) was investigated. Results indicated that the acetylation led the molecules to be more likely aggregated, followed by a higher crystallinity, a lower apparent viscosity and a higher ratio of G" to G' (tan δ). Importantly, the acetylated polysaccharides (ACEP) had a lower digestibility, but its molecular weight was lower than that of original polysaccharides (CEP) following a simulated saliva-gastrointestinal digestion.

Three mannan polysaccharides and their oligosaccharides were investigated in terms of physicochemical characteristics and effects on gut microbiota. Oligosaccharides from guar gum had the fastest fermentation kinetics for SCFAs generation at the initial stage, while the locust bean of both polymers and oligosaccharides demonstrated the lowest SCFAs through the whole fermentation process. In contrast, konjac gum steadily increased SCFAs and reached its maximum level at 24 h fermentation, indicating its fermentation character may be associated with its rheological properties.

We present a simple approach for the calculation of accurate pKa values in water and acetonitrile based on the straightforward calculation of the gas-phase absolute free energies of the acid and conjugate base with use of only a continuum solvation model to obtain the corresponding solution-phase free energies. Most of the error in such an approach arises from inaccurate differential solvation free energies of the acid and conjugate base which is removed in our approach using a correction based on the realization that the gas-phase acidities have only a small systematic error relative to the dominant systematic error in the differential solvation. The methodology is outlined in the context of the calculation of a set of neutral acids with water as the solvent for a reasonably accurate electronic structure level of theory (DFT), basis set, and implicit solvation model.

A new stable structure has been found for the anion clusters of hydrogen fluoride. The ab initio method was used to optimize the structures of the (HF)(3)(-), (HF)(4)(-), (HF)(5)(-), and (HF)(6)(-) anion clusters with an excess "solvated" electron. Instead of the well-known "zig-zag" (HF)(n)(-) structure, a new form, (HF)(n-1)F(-)···H, was found with lower energy.
