BiTe-based alloys are representatively commercialized thermoelectric materials for refrigeration and power generation. Refrigeration mainly utilizes thermoelectric properties near room temperature, while the power generation temperature is relatively high. However, it is difficult for bismuth telluride to maintain good thermoelectric properties throughout the entire temperature range of 300-500 K.

Lacrimal adenoid cystic carcinoma (LACC) is one of the most common malignant epithelial tumors of the lacrimal gland, characterized by high rates of local recurrence, distant metastases, and tumor-related mortality. This malignancy impairs the lacrimal gland's ability to secret tears, thereby disrupting the normal function of the ocular surface. Due to ineffective diagnostic approaches and the complex anatomical location of the lacrimal gland within the orbit, many LACC patients are often diagnosed at the later stages.

Article Synopsis
  • The kagome lattice is important for studying complex electronic states, but creating it in 2D semiconductors for practical uses is difficult.
  • A new approach involves using a coloring-triangle lattice within a modified triangular lattice to generate kagome-like bands.
  • Researchers discovered these low-energy kagome-like bands in a 7-layer-thick 2D semiconductor, CrSe, which has unique properties linked to its atomic structure and electron interactions.

Article Synopsis
  • - Currently, glioblastoma (GBM) treatments are hindered by drug resistance, poor blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, and non-specificity; however, new agents called TriPEX-ClO and TriPEX-PF show promise for effective treatment.
  • - These agents penetrate the BBB and induce non-apoptotic cell death via two processes: paraptosis and ferroptosis, targeting mitochondria and leading to significant metabolic disruption in cancer cells.
  • - In animal studies, TriPEX drugs outperformed the standard treatment (Temozolomide) in extending survival in drug-resistant GBM, suggesting a new direction for developing fluorescent anticancer therapies and treatments for brain diseases.

IgG4-Related Ophthalmic Disease (IgG4-ROD) is a chronic autoimmune-mediated fibrotic disease that predominantly affects the lacrimal glands, often leading to loss of function in the involved tissues or organs. Recent studies have demonstrated that MMP-12 is highly expressed in IgG4-ROD and plays a significant role in regulating immune responses. In this study, we reviewed nine patients diagnosed with IgG4-ROD based on clinical manifestations and histological analysis, and we investigated the expression of IL-33/ST2 and MMP-12 in IgG4-ROD lacrimal gland tissues using IHC.

Antinuclear antibody (ANA) detection by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) is instrumental in the evaluation of systemic autoimmune diseases (SADs). The dense fine speckled (DFS) ANA staining predominantly associates with anti-DFS70, an autoantibody that is thought to exclude the presence of SAD. However, the DFS pattern may mask the presence of other ANA patterns that may be clinically relevant.

In alignment with the increasing demand for larger storage capacity and longer data retention, the electrical control of magnetic anisotropy has been a research focus in the realm of spintronics. Typically, magnetic anisotropy is determined by grain dimensionality, which is set during the fabrication of magnetic thin films. Despite the intrinsic correlation between magnetic anisotropy and grain dimensionality, there is a lack of experimental evidence for electrically controlling grain dimensionality, thereby impairing the efficiency of magnetic anisotropy modulation.

As a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel-based manufacture of bulk oxygenates, electrochemical synthesis using CO and HO as raw materials at ambient conditions offers immense appeal. However, the upscaling of the electrosynthesis of oxygenates encounters kinetic bottlenecks arising from the competing hydrogen evolution reaction with the selective production of ethylene. Herein, a catalytic relay system that can perform in tandem CO capture, activation, intermediate transfer and enrichment on a Cu-Ag composite catalyst is used for attaining high yield CO-to-oxygenates electrosynthesis at high current densities.

Recently, zero-shot (or training-free) Neural Architecture Search (NAS) approaches have been proposed to liberate NAS from the expensive training process. The key idea behind zero-shot NAS approaches is to design proxies that can predict the accuracy of some given networks without training the network parameters. The proxies proposed so far are usually inspired by recent progress in theoretical understanding of deep learning and have shown great potential on several datasets and NAS benchmarks.
