Wound healing is a dynamic and complex process involving hemostasis, inflammation, fibroblast proliferation, and tissue remodeling. This process is highly susceptible to bacterial infection, which often leads to impaired and delayed wound repair. While antibiotic therapy remains the primary clinical approach for treating bacteria-infected wounds, its widespread use poses a significant risk of developing bacterial resistance.

Wnt proteins are hydrophobic glycoproteins that are nevertheless capable of long-range signaling. We found that Wnt7a is secreted long distance on the surface of extracellular vesicles (EVs) following muscle injury. We defined a signal peptide region in Wnts required for secretion on EVs, termed exosome-binding peptide (EBP).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the impact of Kaplan fibers (KFs) and anterolateral ligament injuries on knee stability during acute ACL injuries, particularly analyzing the pivot-shift test results in both adults and adolescents.
  • It included 540 patients with ACL tears and found that while adults’ high-grade pivot shifts were mainly linked to anterolateral ligament disruption, adolescents’ were significantly associated with KF injuries.
  • The findings suggest that KF injuries in adolescents serve as substantial indicators for increased knee instability post-ACL injury, contrasting with adults where other factors are more influential.

Article Synopsis
  • Blinatumomab has shown promise as a key treatment for acute B-cell precursor lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) when combined with pre-treatment chemotherapy to minimize side effects and CD19 selection pressure.
  • A recent phase 2 trial involved 35 newly diagnosed patients who received reduced-dose chemotherapy followed by blinatumomab, resulting in a high complete remission rate of 94% after 2 weeks of treatment.
  • With a median follow-up of 11.5 months, the treatment demonstrated excellent long-term outcomes, including a 97.1% one-year overall survival rate, suggesting that a less intensive approach can be both effective and well-tolerated for this leukemia type.

While 7T diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) has high spatial resolution, its diffusion imaging quality is usually affected by signal loss due to B1 inhomogeneity, T2 decay, susceptibility, and chemical shift. In contrast, 3T dMRI has relative higher diffusion angular resolution, but lower spatial resolution. Combination of 3T and 7T dMRI, thus, may provide more detailed and accurate information about the voxel-wise fiber orientations to better understand the structural brain connectivity.
