Background: Renal function is a crucial factor affecting the prognosis of patients with end-stage heart failure (HF). The differential impacts of heart transplantation and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation on renal function are unclear. Therefore, we compared the perioperative renal function changes in patients who underwent heart transplantation with that of patients who underwent LVAD implantation.

Fungi comprise approximately 2 % of the Earth's biomass; however, the human gastrointestinal tract has a limited capacity to digest fungal biomass. In this study, a novel endo-N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase, Endo CM, was characterized in the mushroom-forming fungus Cordyceps militaris, where it plays a role in maintaining the integrity of the fungal cell wall. Through gene editing, the Endo CM promoter was engineered to remove the binding site of the CmCreA carbon catabolite repressor, and the transformant was named CmT.

The paper took the first large-scale power generation project of "fishery-PV complementary" in the coastal mudflat intertidal zone of China as the research object and studied several typical environmental factors through on-site monitoring. The study results indicate that the average and maximum wind speeds in non-PV areas are more than twice that of PV areas.

Herein, we report a mild and efficient 2-electrode constant-potential electrolysis of imidazo[1,2-]pyridine with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) to produce various imidazo[1,2-]pyridine HFIP ethers. Mechanistic studies indicated that the electrooxidation reaction might involve radical coupling and ionic reaction.

We assessed the prognostic significance of admission D-dimer levels in patients with AAD and AIMH.
Methods And Results: The prospective, multicenter, observational study in China recruited participants from 2013 to 2019.
Isochroman and azole moieties are both present in a wide variety of biologically active molecules. Their efficient combination under mild reaction conditions is beneficial for obtaining small-molecule drug candidates. In this paper, we describe electrochemical α-C(sp)-H/N-H cross-coupling reactions between isochromans and azoles, yielding products in moderate to excellent yields.

Maternal infection during pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Our study used a multi-omics profiling method to explore the proteome and metabolome alteration in early embryonic development after COVID-19 infection.

Objective: The objective was to evaluate the relationship between carotid stenting and off-pump coronary artery grafting (CAS-OPCABG) and OPCABG only in patients with asymptomatic severe carotid stenosis.
Methods: This study retrospectively included 669 patients with asymptomatic severe carotid artery stenosis who underwent OPCABG at multiple centers. After propensity score matching for baseline characteristics, the study compared two groups of patients with clinical data, early and midterm death, stroke, and myocardial infarction (MI).
Cardiovascular health requires the orchestration of the daily rhythm of blood pressure (BP), which responds to changes in light exposure and dietary patterns. Whether rhythmic light and feeding can modulate daily BP rhythm directly or via modulating intrinsic core clock gene is unknown. Using inducible global knockout mice (iBmal1KO), we explored the impact of rhythmic light, rhythmic feeding, or their combination on various physiological parameters.

Currently, pharmaceutical therapy is the primary method of treatment, but it has reached a plateau, and it is accompanied by inherent adverse reactions and high costs. Stimulation of the wrist acupuncture point PC6 is recommended as an effective means of preventing PONV.

Immune-related genes (IRGs) have been demonstrated to predict the immunotherapy response in certain malignant tumours. However, the clinical significance of IRGs in patients with synovial sarcoma (SS) is still unclear.

Direct conversion of readily available bulk materials into highly dispersed supported materials could be highly beneficial for real applications. In this work, we invented an on-surface synthetic strategy for generating highly loaded and well-dispersed nickel nanoparticles on nickel oxide supports (Ni/NiO).

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have a 2 to 3 times higher risk of cardiovascular disease compared to non-diabetic individuals, and cardiovascular disease has consistently been a leading cause of death among diabetic patients. Therefore, preventing cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients remains a significant challenge. In addition to classic indicators such as cholesterol and lipoproteins, previous studies have demonstrated that plasma level of free fatty acid (FFA) is closely related to the occurrence of atherosclerosis, particularly in T2DM patients.

Nonetheless, its high cost and limited durability are still ongoing challenges. Herein, a RuO/Ni-CoO heterostructure confining a heterointerface (between RuO and Ni-doped CoO) is constructed to realize enhanced OER performance.

Catalase (CAT) plays a crucial role in plant responses to environmental stresses and maintaining redox homeostasis. However, its putative heat lability might compromise its activity and function, thus restricting plant thermotolerance. Herein, we verified Arabidopsis CAT3 was of poor thermostability that was then engineered by fusion expression in .

A mild and environmentally friendly photocatalytic method for C-C bond formation between 1,3-dicarbonyls and styrene derivatives has been developed in a green solvent - ethanol. A series of α-functionalized β-diketones were obtained in moderate to good yields. Based on the results of control experimental and theoretical calculations, the photocatalytic transformation might be accomplished by generating reactive radicals a single electron transfer process.

Objectives: The association between preoperative D-dimer with morphologic features and surgical outcomes of acute type A aortic dissection is still unclear.
Methods: 430 acute type A aortic dissection patients who underwent total arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk in Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University between January 2016 and December 2020 were enrolled in the present study. Patients were divided into higher D-dimer (>2307 ng/ml) group and lower D-dimer (≤2307 ng/ml) group.
Quantitative characterization of optical anisotropies is extremely important for wide fields and applications. The Mueller matrix, providing all the polarization-related properties of a medium, is a powerful tool for the comprehensive evaluation of optical anisotropies. Here, we propose a ptychographic Mueller matrix imaging (PMMI) technique, which features the Mueller matrix polarization modulation being introduced into the ptychography.
