Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a highly invasive malignancy which has unique characteristics when found among individuals from certain ethnic or geographic populations. The role and molecular mechanism of Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) in NPC remain yet to be clarified.
