Thoracic stent graft plus coil embolization is a promising option for management of pulmonary sequestrations. Here we present the case of a 43-year-old male with chronic recurrent chest pain and hemoptysis that was incidentally identified as having a Pryce Type I pulmonary sequestration. The patient had a known history of gastritis, alcohol abuse, chronic leg and back pain, and was incidentally found to have an anomalous artery from the descending thoracic aorta to the left lower lobe.

Natural species are widely used as indicator organisms to estimate of the impact of environmental pollution. Here we present the results of first study of a reliability of parthenogenetic Darevskia аrmeniaca and bisexual Darevskia raddei rock lizards as sentinels for monitoring of environmental genotoxicity. The comet assay and micronucleus test were applied to the lizards sampled in six areas in Armenia and Artsakh with different levels of soil contamination.

Combination of bioassays and chemical analysis was applied to determine the genotoxic/mutagenic contamination in four different sites of the basin of Lake Sevan in Armenia. Water genotoxicity was evaluated using the single cell gel electrophoresis technique (comet assay) in erythrocytes of gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio), Tradescantia micronucleus (Trad-MCN) and Tradescantia stamen hair mutation (Trad-SHM) assays. Significant inter-site differences in the levels of water genotoxicity according to fish and Trad-MCN bioassays have been revealed.

There was investigated the dynamics of the functional state of the cardiovascular system of students after bicycle exercise load, followed by cold inhalation of lavender oil. Examinations were performed in the first half of the day at the same time, three times: 1) before exercise load (the state ofphysiological norm); 2) immediately after the load for 15minutes on the bike training apparatus «Proteus Pec 3320» in the third position, followed by aromatherapy; 3) at the 15 minute of the post-exercise load recovery period. Aromacorrection was executed by the method of cold inhalation.

There were investigated changes in indices of the activity of regulatory mechanisms of heart rhythm in student under exam stress conditions and the possibility of their correction with aid of aromatherapy. The examination stress was established to be accompanied by pronounced shifts of integral and spectral indices of heart rhythm in students, indicating to the activation of the sympathetic circuit of Autonomic Nervous System in conditions of examination stress. A positive, relaxation impact of the essential oil of orange on the investigated indices was also recorded.

Cardioprotective effects of necrostatin-1 (necroptosis inhibitor) and 3-methyladenine (autophagy inhibitor) were studied on the model of long-term cold preservation of rat heart. Addition of necrostatin-1 (490 nmol/liter) or 3-methyladenine (4.5 mmol/liter) to custodiol preserving solution reduced myocardial infarction size and improved left-ventricular function during reperfusion after 8-h preservation at 4°C.

Vestibular dysfunctions after vibration action in a considerable degree by adaptive-adjustment changes of neurotransmitter processes are determined and regulation of which is possible by endogenous factors, particularly hypothalamic proline rich peptide-1. On Albino rats synaptic changes in single neurons of the inferior vestibular nucleus during high-frequency stimulation of hypothalamic supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei in condition of vibration action and systemic use of proline rich peptide-1 were studied. The poststimulus spike activity of inferior vestibular nucleus neurons in norm was manifested mainly in the form of tetanic potentiation and posttetanic potentation after vibration action.

Data obtained in the studies reported here provide evidence that during exposure to vibration for 30 days, feeding with licorice root significantly increases the activity of the anaerobic respiration enzyme succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) in the cerebral cortex, while activity in the subcortex, conversely, decreases. Combined treatment for 30 days with licorice root and vibration after a preliminary 30-day period of feeding with licorice root resulted in high SDH activity in all the structures studied, improving brain energy supply and metabolism and ameliorating the effect of vibration.

Acute experiments were performed on rabbits to study the responses of neurons in the anterior, ventromedial, and posterior nuclei of the hypothalamus to single, paired, and rhythmic stimulation of the vestibular nerve and lateral vestibular nucleus of Deiters. The data obtained showed that neurons of the posterior nucleus of the hypothalamus were the most sensitive. Three types of response were seen from hypothalamic neurons, with short, long, and intermediate latent periods.

The interrelationship of the activity of specific and nonspecific afferent systems in the mechanism of changes in the electrical activity of the cortex under the influence of vibration was studied under chronic experimental conditions. The character of the postvibrational shifts in the vestibulo- and reticulocortical evoked responses in the presence of the isolated and combined disengagement of the specific (vestibular) and nonspecific afferent systems of the brain was investigated. It was established that vestibular afferentation plays a significant role in the mechanism of postvibrational shifts in the vestibulocortical evoked responses, whereas nonspecific, as well as proprioceptive, somatic, and visceral as well as other inputs play the dominant role for the reticulocortical system of integration.

Phasic changes in the bioelectrical activity of the dorsal hippocampus (field CA3), the mesencephalic reticular formation, and several regions of the neocortex and the reticulo-cortical evoked potentials were measured under conditions of the action of prolonged vibration (3 months) in electrophysiological experiments with rabbits. Daily three-hour vibration during the first month of the experiment evoked an activation reaction in the EEG, characterized by a desynchronization effect in the neocortex and hippocampus and by the stabilization of the v rhythm in the mesencephalic reticular formation. Noted against this background was a certain facilitation in the reticulo-cortical evoked potentials, more pronounced in the neocortex, and a decline in the ascending activational influence of the mesencephalic reticular formation.
