Several cases of glomerulonephritis occurring after infection with human parvovirus B19 (PVB19) have been reported. However, the pathogenesis and clinicopathological features of PVB19-related glomerulonephritis remain elusive. We describe the case of a 34 year-old woman who showed nephrotic syndrome and microscopic hematuria 10 days after PVB19 infection.

Background: This study aimed to examine whether online interactive communication education using video materials was as effective as face-to-face education among healthcare college students.
Methods: The participants were healthcare college students who were enrolled in study programs to obtain national medical licenses. They participated in lectures and exercises on healthcare communication, both online (n = 139) and face-to-face (n = 132).
Patients undergoing gastrectomy for gastric cancer may experience alterations in olfaction, yet the association between olfactory changes and postoperative weight loss remains uncertain. This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between olfactory changes and postoperative weight loss in patients with gastric cancer. Patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer between February 2022 and August 2022 were included in the study.

Donors with AKI due to rhabdomyolysis are not contraindication for transplantation. However, the dark red kidney raises concerns about renal hypofunction or primary nonfunction after transplantation.

This study assessed sports activity participation and subjective health status, as well as factors potential associated with these variables, in patients who underwent ALS-THA.
Methods: Of 698 patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty at our institution between 2013 and 2018, questionnaires were sent to 355 patients under 80 years old who had undergone ALS-THA and 242 responded.
A 63-year-old woman had sustained a subcutaneous rupture of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon of the little finger due to osteoarthritis of the pisotriquetral joint. She underwent excision of the pisiform bone and reconstruction of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon of the little finger using an autogenous palmaris longus tendon graft. After surgery, a continuous ulnar nerve block was performed at the forearm under ultrasound and nerve stimulator guidance.

Twenty-nine sika deer were sampled. Alpha and beta diversity metrics determined via 16S and 18S rRNA amplicon-seq analysis showed compositional differences.

Due to the resolution limitations of clinical CT (about ), it is challenging to obtain enough pathological information. On the other hand, scanning allows the imaging of lung specimens with significantly higher resolution (about or higher), which allows us to obtain and analyze detailed anatomical information.

Strain 7-1 adhered to porcine gastric mucin in a carbon source-dependent manner. The genome consists of a circular chromosome (2,557,589 bp; GC content, 35.

Methods: In this multicenter cohort study, we enrolled patients with chronic hepatitis C who achieved SVR with interferon (IFN)-based therapy (IFN group) or direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy (DAA group) between January 1, 1990, and December 31, 2018. The patients underwent regular surveillance for HCC.
Purpose: By analyzing possible factors contributing to imaging misevaluation of arterial phase (AP) vascularity, we aimed to provide a more proper way to detect AP hypervascularity of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) using the noninvasive imaging modalities magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS).
Methods: We retrospectively recruited 164 pathologically confirmed HCC lesions from 128 patients. Using CEUS with Sonazoid (SCEUS) and gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid MRI (EOB-MRI), AP vascularity of the lesions was evaluated and inconsistencies in interpretation were examined.
This study investigates the associations between sodium intake and diabetes complications in a nationwide cohort of elderly Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes aged 65-85. Data from 912 individuals regarding their dietary intake at baseline is analyzed and assessed by the Food Frequency Questionnaire based on food groups. Primary outcomes are times to diabetic retinopathy, overt nephropathy, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and all-cause mortality during six years.

Methods: Under the premise of non-hyperenhance in arterial phase (AP) and hypointensity in hepatobiliary phase (HBP) of EOB-MRI, 29 fresh lesions from 22 patients with chronic viral hepatitis (median (range) age: 69(57-82) years) were prospectively enrolled. During continuously followed-up by EOB-MRI, lesional vascularity in AP, the signal intensity (SI) ratios of lesions-to-parenchyma in HBP images (post-contrast ratio) and adjusted enhancement with reference of unenhanced images (EOB enhancement ratio) were examined.
IRAK4 deficiency is an inborn error of immunity predisposing patients to invasive pyogenic infections. Currently, there is no established simple assay that enables precise characterization of IRAK4 mutant alleles in isolation. Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune condition that is characterized by psychiatric symptoms, involuntary movement, seizures, autonomic dysfunction, and central hypoventilation.

Given that CPO can improve physical function in the early post-operative period, patients might be able to participate in sports activities post-operatively. Therefore, this study examined the post-operative sports activity participation and characteristics of acetabular dysplasia patients who have undergone CPO.

We aimed to elucidate the association between NAFLD and CKD using propensity score (PS)-matched analysis. We assessed 3725 Japanese individuals, excluding those with hepatitis B or C infection and men and women who consumed >30 and >20 g/day of alcohol, respectively.
