Bicontinuous metal structures possess unique physical and chemical properties, such as efficient mass transport capability and abundant low-coordinated surface atoms, that make them highly desirable catalysts for various important chemical reactions. Here, we report a one-pot synthesis approach to fabricate bicontinuous Pd nanocubes without a sacrificial template or a dealloying process. The prepared bicontinuous Pd nanocubes have a porous structure consisting of continuous nanosized ligaments, which can enable high atom utilization efficiency and offer abundant low-coordinated surface atoms.

Objectives: Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) refers to a reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus in the distribution of the facial nerve, but it can involve other cranial nerves as well. In patients with polyneuropathy, the vestibulocochlear nerve is most involved after the facial nerve. The clinical manifestations and long-term vestibular outcomes in these patients remain unclear.

The purpose of this study was comparing performances of three breeds of donor satellite cells for cultured meat and selecting the optimal donor and providing insight into the selection of donors for cultured meat production. Cattle muscle satellite cells were isolated from the muscle tissue of Hanwoo, Holstein, and Jeju black cattle, and then sorted by fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS). Regarding proliferation of satellite cells, all three breeds showed similar trends.

Background And Purpose: People living with epilepsy (PLWE) may wish to discontinue antiseizure medications (ASMs) after long-term remission. However, fear of relapse may lead to continued ASM use. Previous studies have focused on seizure relapse in PLWE who discontinued ASMs after long-term seizure remission (PLWE off ASM), with limited data on those who continued ASMs (PLWE on ASM).

This study aimed to develop a model incorporating natural language processing analysis for the simplified molecular-input line-entry system (SMILES) to predict clearance (CL) and volume of distribution at steady state (V) in humans. The construction of CL and V prediction models involved data from 435 to 439 compounds, respectively. In machine learning, features such as animal pharmacokinetic data, in vitro experimental data, molecular descriptors, and SMILES were utilized, with XGBoost employed as the algorithm.

This report presents three cases of separated root tip formation following traumatic injury with or without inflammation. The first case showed continued separate apical root formation; however, development of the main root with bony ingrowth was absent. The second case showed that separated root formation continued under the 2-year inflammatory conditions, even after apexification.

Background/objectives: Fructus (SCF) is a traditional medicinal herb containing lignans that improves glucose metabolism by mitigating insulin resistance. We aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential and action mechanism of SCF for Alzheimer's disease (AD) using a network pharmacology analysis, followed by experimental validation in an AD rat model.

Methods: The biological activities of SCF's bioactive compounds were assessed through a network pharmacology analysis.

The use of conductive and corrosion-resistant protective layers represents a key strategy for improving the durability of light absorber materials in photoelectrochemical water splitting. For high performance photoanodes such as Si, GaAs, and GaP, amorphous TiO protective overlayers, deposited by atomic layer deposition, are conductive for holes via a defect band in the TiO. However, when coated on simply prepared, low-cost photoanodes such as metal oxides, no charge transfer is observed through amorphous TiO.

The aim of this study was to investigate the rheological properties and handling characteristics of four brands of injectable calcium hydroxide pastes (Calcipex II, CleaniCal, DiaPaste, Well-Paste). Shear viscosity was measured with a rotational rheometer. A universal mechanics analyzer assembled in the laboratory was used to quantify the force for extrusion and extruded weight of the materials.

: With the advent of the field of pediatric emergency medicine, studies on the differences in treatment patterns between pediatricians and emergency medicine (EM) physicians in various pediatric conditions have been accumulating. This study aimed to compare croup (acute laryngotracheobronchitis) management patterns between pediatricians and EM physicians to enhance pediatric emergency care and inform the training of future specialists. : A retrospective review of medical records was conducted for 1676 previously healthy children diagnosed with croup who visited a single pediatric emergency department (PED) of a tertiary university-affiliated hospital in South Korea, from March 2019 to February 2023.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), the most aggressive subtype, presents a critical challenge due to the absence of approved targeted therapies. Hence, there is an urgent need to identify effective therapeutic targets for this condition. While epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is prominently expressed in TNBC and recognized as a therapeutic target, anti-EGFR therapies have yet to gain approval for breast cancer treatment due to their associated side effects and limited efficacy.

Novel two-dimensional semiconductor crystals can exhibit diverse physical properties beyond their inherent semiconducting attributes, making their pursuit paramount. Memristive properties, as exemplars of these attributes, are predominantly manifested in wide-bandgap materials. However, simultaneously harnessing semiconductor properties alongside memristive characteristics to produce memtransistors is challenging.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is characterized by chronic anemia and recurrent ischemia-reperfusion episodes, which can lead to high-output heart failure. The impact of SCD on cardiac structure and function remains underinvestigated. We conducted a single-institution retrospective analysis of clinical and echocardiographic data from patients with hemoglobin SS SCD (SCD-SS) between January 2016 and June 2022.

Objective: This study aimed to examine patterns of mother-father coparenting relationship quality and their associations with child empathy, emotional insecurity, and behavior problems in families with low income.

Background: Given the growing number of nonmarital births and the high risk of relationship dissolution among cohabiting couples living with low income, it is important to examine the coparenting relationships among racially diverse unmarried couples from low-income contexts. To date, little research has assessed patterns of coparenting relationships and their associations with child socioemotional outcomes among this population.

The proliferation of the endothelium is a highly coordinated process to ensure the emergence, expansion, and homeostasis of the vasculature. While Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signaling fine-tunes the behaviors of endothelium in health and disease, how BMP signaling influences the proliferation of endothelium and therefore, modulates angiogenesis remains largely unknown. Here, we evaluated the role of Activin A Type I Receptor (ACVR1/ALK2), a key BMP receptor in the endothelium, in modulating the proliferation of endothelial cells.

Cytokinins regulate plant growth, development, and responses to environmental stresses such as cold via phosphorelay from cytokinin receptors to the ARABIDOPSIS RESPONSE REGULATORs (ARRs). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the activation of type-B ARR transcriptional activity in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) remain unclear. Here, we show that the E3 SUMO ligase HIGH PLOIDY2 SUMOylates ARR1, a type-B ARR, at K236, triggering its activation.
