Thus, PAMP-mimicking vaccines may induce potent immune activation and provide broad-spectrum protection against microbes. Dextran encapsulation can regulate the surface characteristics of nanoparticles (NPs) and induces their surface modification.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective HIV cohort was constructed who visited National Medical Center in Korea from 2013 to 2022 and performed ≥ 1 anti-HCV antibody tests (anti-HCV) during the study period.
Background: This study evaluated the effectiveness of Joint External Evaluation (JEE) scores with regard to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and other infectious diseases performance in 96 countries. To propose a revised JEE tool, potential JEE indicators were also examined.
Methods: JEE data from 2016-2019 were linked with outcomes such as COVID-19 fatality rates and infections, as well as mortality rates for other infectious diseases.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the influence of baseline sarcopenia and changes in body composition on survival during cervical cancer treatment.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with stage IB1-IVB cervical cancer who underwent primary concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT) between 2002 and 2022 were included. The exclusion criteria were prior radical hysterectomy, lack of pretreatment computed tomography (CT) imaging, or significant comorbidities.
Smooth muscle cells (SMCs), Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) and Platelet-derived growth factor receptor α positive (PDGFRα) cells form an integrated, electrical syncytium within the gastrointestinal (GI) muscular tissues known as the SIP syncytium. Immunohistochemical analysis of gastric corpus muscles showed that c-KIT/ANO1 ICC-IM and PDGFRα cells were closely apposed to one another in the same anatomical niches. We used intracellular microelectrode recording from corpus muscle bundles to characterize the roles of intramuscular ICC and PDGFRα cells in conditioning membrane potentials of gastric muscles.

Metallothioneins (MTs) are major contributors in cellular zinc regulation. However, the role of MTs in bone cell regulation has remained unexplored.

However, engineering development at the cell level for lithium batteries with solid-state electrolytes is limited. Here, to advance this aspect and produce high-energy lithium cells, we introduce a cell design based on advanced parametrization of microstructural and architectural parameters of electrode and electrolyte components.

Background: A global mpox outbreak occurred in 2022, and a domestic outbreak started in South Korea in April 2023. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics, viral shedding, and immune response of mpox in South Korea.
Methods: Patients hospitalized with mpox in the National Medical Center between September 2022 and June 2023 were included in this study.
Background: Blanco essential oil (CBEO) has attracted increasing attention as a potential treatment for depression and anxiety in recent years. However, there is limited evidence regarding the active compounds responsible for its therapeutic effects. In addition, substantial amounts of CBEO and prolonged therapy are often required.

There are many different kinds of studies done on how IAQ affects people's well-being. There hasn't been much research that looks at the microbiological composition of the aerosol in subway transit systems.

Methods: This study assessed the association between critical COVID-19 illness and various risk factors, including a variety of underlying health conditions, using multiple logistic regression models based on the K-COV-N cohort, a nationwide data of confirmed COVID-19 cases linked with COVID-19 vaccination status and the National Health Insurance claim information.
Results: We analyzed 137,532 and 8,294,249 cases of COVID-19 infection during the Delta and the Omicron variant dominant periods, respectively.
The development of highly effective hemostatic materials with high biocompatibility and outstanding performance is vital to the field of biomaterials. In this study, we develop a hemostatic fiber material that exhibits high biocompatibility and excellent performance. By incorporating polydopamine (PDA) into the alkaline treatment of silk fibroin (SF), we achieve PDA-coated SF fibers with lengths that can be controlled by the alkaline concentration.

In modern medicine, nasal drug delivery systems are valuable for disease treatment because of their noninvasiveness, good absorption, and fast-acting effects.
Objective: This study aimed to systematically organize preclinical and clinical studies on intranasal herbal medicines to highlight their potential in drug development.
Genetic variation and epigenetic factors are thought to contribute to the development of hypersensitivity to aspirin. DNA methylation fluctuates dynamically throughout the day. To discover new CpG methylation in lymphocytes associated with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), we evaluated changes in global CpG methylation profiles from before to after an oral aspirin challenge in patients with AERD and aspirin-tolerant asthma (ATA).

S100 calcium-binding protein A9 (S100A9) is a neutrophil-derived protein involved in the development of neutrophil-related chronic inflammatory disorders. However, the role of S100A9 in IPF remains unclear.

Starch, a significant source of carbohydrates, is categorized as rapidly digestible, slowly digestible, or resistant starch (RS). RS, which is a non-viscous fermentable fiber, has shown promise in animal studies for antidiabetic effects by improving glucose metabolism.
