Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is one of the most hypoxic tumors of the central nervous system. Although temozolomide (TMZ) is an effective clinical agent in the GBM therapy, the hypoxic microenvironment remains a major barrier in glioma chemotherapy resistance, and the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, we find hypoxia can induce the protective response to mitochondrion via HIF-1α-mediated miR-26a upregulation which is associated with TMZ resistance in vitro and in vivo.

An increasing number of TFE3 rearrangement-associated tumors, such as TFE3 rearrangement-associated perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas), melanotic Xp11 translocation renal cancers, and melanotic Xp11 neoplasms, have recently been reported. We examined 12 such cases, including 5 TFE3 rearrangement-associated PEComas located in the pancreas, cervix, or pelvis and 7 melanotic Xp11 translocation renal cancers, using clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular analyses. All the tumors shared a similar morphology, including a purely nested or sheet-like architecture separated by a delicate vascular network, purely epithelioid cells displaying a clear or granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, a lack of papillary structures and spindle cell or fat components, uniform round or oval nuclei containing small visible nucleoli, and, in most cases (11/12), melanin pigmentation.

Interdigitating dendritic cell tumor/sarcoma is an extremely rare neoplasm that mainly occurs in the lymph node, with only 51 cases reported in the literature to date. The authors report the case of a 41-year-old woman who presented with a 4-month history of a gradually enlarging painless mobile lymphadenopathy in the right submaxillary region. The lymph node mass was completely resected and was treated with 1 cycle of CHOP chemotherapy.

The purpose of present study was to assess the effects of SW immersion on the dorsal skin in hairless mice. Adult hairless mice were individually immersed in SW for 3 h, 6 h and 12 h; then, full-thickness dorsal skin of 2 cm diameter was excised for pathological examination (light microscope), apoptosis detection (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated 2'-deoxyuridine 5'-triphosphate nick end labeling [TUNEL]) and proliferation index evaluation (immunohistochemistry).
