  • In Xiamen City, in 2008, the overall infection rate of soil-borne nematodes was 6.37%.
  • Among these, hookworm had the highest infection rate at 5.97%, followed by pinworm at 20.13%, while Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura were significantly lower at 0.29% and 0.09%, respectively.
  • There was still a notably high infection rate of soil-borne nematodes outside the island and specifically for pinworm in children.
