Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is associated with severe skin eruptions, fever, hematological abnormalities, and multi-organ involvement. Although aromatic anticonvulsant drugs have been frequently associated with the manifestation of DRESS syndrome, its induction following treatment with nonaromatic anticonvulsants, such as valproate, has rarely been reported. Moreover, there are limited data regarding the development of neosensitization related to chemically unrelated drugs following an episode of DRESS syndrome.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play important roles in cancer progression through their complex interactions with cancer cells. The secreted bone morphogenetic protein antagonist, gremlin1 (GREM1) is expressed by the CAFs of basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), and promotes the growth of cancer cells. Mammalian epidermis, which is composed of hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and interfollicular epidermis, is maintained by discrete stem cells. In vivo lineage tracing demonstrated that murine LGR5 cells are mainly responsible for hair follicle regeneration whereas LGR6 cells generate sebaceous glands and interfollicular epidermis. In our previous study, we demonstrated that immobilization stress blocked estrogen-induced luteinizing hormone (LH) surge possibly by inhibiting the synthesis and release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) at the hypothalamic level and by blocking estrogen-induced prolactin (PRL) surge by increasing the synthesis of dopamine receptor at the pituitary level in ovariectomized rats. The present study was performed to determine whether immobilization stress affects pituitary LH responsiveness to GnRH, and whether endogenous opioid peptide (EOP) and dopamine systems are involved in blocking LH and PRL surges during immobilization stress. Immobilization stress was found to inhibit basal LH release and to completely abolish LH surge.
