The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Quercus mongolica (QM) which induce anti-photoaging process of skin in vitro. Bioassay-guided isolation of 80 % Me2CO extract of the leaves of QM led to the isolation and identification of six known phenolic compounds: pedunculagin (1), (-)-epigallocatechin (2), (+)-catechin (3), quercetin 3-O-(6″-O-galloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (5) and kaempferol 3-O-(6″-galloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (6). The effects of compounds 1-6 on expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and type-I procollagen were further evaluated.

Objective: Oxidative stress is associated with the pathogenesis of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Because glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are the major detoxification enzymes which protect cells against oxidative stress, genetic variations in the GST gene may modulate the risk of POP. This study aimed to determine the association between advanced POP and the polymorphisms of GSTM1, GSTT1 and GSTP1 (rs1695).

In such cases, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is a commonly practiced alternative.
Purpose: To analyze long-term outcomes including tumor progression patterns and factors contributing to survival of patients who received TACE as the first line of therapy for very early or early stage HCC infeasible for US-guided RFA.
Objective: To perform a systematic review of compliance with standardized terminology and reporting criteria for radiofrequency (RF) tumor ablation, proposed by the International Working Group on Image-Guided Tumor Ablation in 2003, in the published reports.
Materials And Methods: Literature search in the PubMed database was performed using index keywords, PubMed limit system, and eligibility criteria. The entire content of each article was reviewed to assess the terminology used for procedure terms, imaging findings, therapeutic efficacy, follow-up, and complications.
Purpose: To compare the long-term therapeutic outcomes of radiofrequency (RF) ablation for small perivascular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and nonperivascular HCC.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study was approved by the institutional review board. Between December 2004 and April 2008, 241 patients (175 men and 66 women; age range, 32-82 years) with a single early-stage HCC that was 3 cm or smaller in the greatest dimension underwent ultrasonography-guided percutaneous RF ablation as a first-line treatment.
The roots of Rosa multiflora THUNB. (RM) has been used in oriental traditional medicines as remedies for scabies, rheumatic arthralgia and stomatitis which were practicably related with today's inflammatory and allergic diseases. In the present study, we evaluated whether RM root extract (RME) and its major constituent, 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-6-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-2,3-trans-6,7-cis-7,8-trans-3,4,7,8-tetrahydro-2H,6H-pyrano[2,3-f] chromene-3,7,9-triol (RM-3) belongs to condensed tannins, improve atopic dermatitis (AD)-like skin lesions in NC/Nga mice induced by mite antigen.

The extract of from the barks of Ilex rotunda Thunb has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects. However, the effect of hemiterpene rotundarpene (4-caffeoyl-3-methyl-but-2-ene-1,4-diol) on the Toll-like receptor (TLR)-2 activation-induced production of inflammatory mediators in keratinocytes has not been studied.

Materials And Methods: Between September 2011 and March 2013, 955 HCCs in 732 patients were treated with percutaneous RF ablation. Among them, ablation of 551 HCCs was accomplished under fusion imaging guidance, and seven mistargetings were noted in seven patients (male-to-female ratio = 6:1; mean age, 60.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the coverage of transverse subcostal sonography in the supine position by using computed tomography (CT) performed before a sonographic liver examination as a predictor of sonographic coverage.
Methods: A total of 124 patients (87 men and 37 women; mean age, 55.55 years; range, 24-79 years) who underwent abdominal CT and subsequent liver sonography were enrolled.
Activity guided isolation of a Spiraea prunifolia extract yielded five caffeoyl hemiterpene glycosides: 4'-(6-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-2'-methyl butyric acid, 1-O-caffeoyl-6-O-(4'-hydroxy-2'-methylene-butyroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside, 1,2-O-dicaffeoyl-6-O-(4'-hydroxy-2'-methylene-butyroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside, 1-O-caffeoyl-6-O-(4'-caffeoyl-2'-methylene-butyroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside, and 1-O-caffeoyl-6-O-(4'-caffeoyl-3'-hydroxy-2'-methylene-butyroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside, and nine known compounds. Structures were elucidated by analysis of 1D and 2D NMR spectra and FAB-MS. To evaluate the anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties of all fourteen compounds, DPPH radical scavenging, NBT superoxide scavenging, and inhibition of nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.

Whether peritumoral anatomic landmarks can be used for the placement of an electrode in HCCs not visible on ultrasound even after image fusion was also evaluated.
Materials And Methods: Planning ultrasound for percutaneous RFA was performed using conventional ultrasound first and then using fusion imaging later during the same session.
Three sulfated phenolic compounds, juglanin B (11R)-O-sulfate (1), myricetin 3´-O-sulfate (2), and ampelopsin 3´-O-sulfate (3), were isolated from the leaves of Myrica rubra. Compound 1 was a new sulfated lignan, 2 was a new sulfated flavone, and 3 was a known sulfated flavone. The structures of the new compounds (1 and 2) were determined by acid hydrolysis and spectroscopic methods, including IR, FAB-MS, 1D and 2D NMR.

Materials And Methods: Liver CT and MR images of 130 patients with HCC within the Milan criteria based on liver CT were retrospectively reviewed. The number of MR-diagnosed HCCs and that of high risk hypervascular nodules (HRHNs), the effect of obtaining MR on patient management and CT appearances of MR-diagnosed HCCs and those of HRHNs were evaluated.
The ability to prepare solid surfaces with well-controlled superhydrophobic and superoleophilic properties is of paramount importance to water-oil separation technology. Herein, we successfully prepared superhydrophobic-superoleophilic membranes by single-step deposition of polystyrene (PS) nanofibers onto a stainless steel mesh via electrospinning. The contact angles of diesel and water on the prepared PS nanofiber membrane were 0° and 155° ± 3°, respectively.

Context: Breast cancer treatment has greatly evolved from radical mastectomy to more cosmetically acceptable and less-debilitating surgeries. Nipple-sparing mastectomy is increasingly done for both cancer treatment and risk reduction. The frequency of terminal duct lobular units (TDLUs) and occult neoplastic epithelial proliferation in grossly/clinically unremarkable nipples (GUNs) is not well investigated.

Mucinous mammary carcinoma (MC) is a tumor type with relatively favorable prognosis. Unlike the circumstances surrounding conventional invasive duct carcinoma, data are limited regarding precursor lesions for MC. This study characterizes patterns of mucinous ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) as a precursor lesion for MC.
