Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors and predictors of non-obese fatty liver disease in the Chinese population.
Patients And Methods: A total of 6,014 adults who underwent physical examinations at Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from March 2019 to March 2023 were included in this study. Fatty liver disease was diagnosed based on at least two of the following criteria: diffuse echo patterns relative to the liver, spleen, and kidney; ultrasonic beam attenuation; and poor intrahepatic visual details.
Hypoxia and reactive oxygen species (ROS) overaccumulation cause persistent oxidative stress and impair intrinsic regenerative potential upon tissue injury. For local tissue injury with hypoxia, such as bone fracture and defects, a localized-sufficient oxygen supply is highly desirable but remains challenging. Therefore, to explore a strategy and its intrinsic mechanism for supplying oxygen locally and remodeling the regenerative microenvironment, an innovative oxygenating hydrogel microsphere system with sustained oxygenation and antioxidant properties is introduced by loading CaO@SiO@PDA (CSP) nanoparticles.

However, increasing cell density at the time of inoculation severely compromises the production capacity of BEVS, resulting in the "cell density effect". This study aimed to explore the mechanisms of the cell density effect through time-series analysis of transcriptomes and proteomes, with the goal of overcoming or alleviating the decline in productivity caused by increased cell density.

However, traditional design and manufacturing method cannot fabricate bone scaffold that well mimics complicated bone-like shape with interconnected porous structure and multiple properties akin to human natural bone. Additive manufacturing, which can achieve implant's tailored external contour and controllable fabrication of internal microporous structure, is able to form almost any shape of designed bone scaffold via layer-by-layer process.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a highly heterogeneous hematological malignancy that is currently incurable. Individualized therapeutic approaches based on accurate risk assessment are essential for improving the prognosis of MM patients. Nevertheless, current prognostic models for MM exhibit certain limitations and prognosis heterogeneity still an unresolved issue.

Lactones has gained increasing attention in recent years due to wide application in polymer and pharmaceutical industries. Traditional synthetic methods of lactones often involve harsh operating temperature, use of strong alkalis and toxic oxidants. Therefore, lactonization of diols under milder conditions have been viewed as the most promising route for future commercialization.

Herein, multifunctional composite microspheres, termed GMAP are developed, using a microfluidic technique by incorporating Au@Pt nanoparticles (NPs) and GelMA hydrogel to modulate the diabetic microenvironment for promoting bone regeneration. The GMAP enables the sustained release of Au@Pt NPs, which function as bimetallic nanozymes with dual enzyme-like activities involving glucose oxidase and catalase.

To characterize the MPs in surface water and sediments of the western urban river network, water and sediment samples were collected. The results showed that the abundance of MPs in the water body of the river network ranged from 7 to 172 n/L, whereas the abundance of MPs in the sediments ranged from 7 to 144 n/kg, and the average abundance in the dry season was significantly higher than that in the rainy season.

Introduction: Non-attendance with scheduled postoperative follow-up visits remains a common issue in orthopaedic clinical research. The objective of this study was to identify the risk factors associated with loss to follow-up among elderly patients with hip-fracture postoperatively.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1-year post-surgery was performed on patients aged over 60 years who underwent hip-fracture surgery from January 2017 to March 2019.
Array waveguide gratings (AWGs) have been widely used in multi-purpose and multi-functional integrated photonic devices for Microwave photonics (MWP) systems. In this paper, we compare the effect of output waveguide configurations on the performance of AWGs. The AWG with an output waveguide converging on the grating circle had larger crosstalk and lower nonuniformity.

Traditional biological methods for removing ammonia nitrogen are often inefficient, especially under varying temperature conditions. This study reviews physicochemical techniques for the treatment and recovery of ammonia nitrogen from water.

By integrating single-cell datasets and using inferCNV, we identified and analysed tumour cell clusters to explore their heterogeneity and changes in abundance throughout LUAD progression. We applied gene set variation analysis (GSVA), pseudotime analysis, scMetabolism, and Cytotrace scores to study biological functions, metabolic profiles and stemness traits.

To date, research on promoting macrophage M2 polarization to improve bone injury repair has been insufficient. In this study, we designed an injectable poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) porous microsphere that forms calcium phosphate crystals on its surface by binding to melatonin, followed by bionanomimetic mineralization .

The pervasive global issue of population aging has led to a growing demand for health monitoring, while the advent of electronic wearable devices has greatly alleviated the strain on the industry. However, these devices come with inherent limitations, such as electromagnetic radiation, complex structures, and high prices. Herein, a Solaris silicone rubber-integrated PMMA polymer optical fiber (S-POF) intelligent insole sensing system has been developed for remote, portable, cost-effective, and real-time gait monitoring.

Chinese early cannabis remains are often interpreted as evidence of hemp fabric production, in line with early textual evidence describing ritualistic hemp cloth use and hemp cultivation as a grain crop. Modern measurements on cannabis varieties show distinct sizes between fibre or oil/fibre and psychoactive varieties, the former having larger seeds on average than the latter.

However, the relevant evidence on the demands of older people and the compensatory capacity of the environment is limited. This study reports for the first time the level of the ICOPE demand in Western China that includes the impact of geographic accessibility of medical resources (GAMR) on ICOPE demand and the potential mechanism of health status.

The attenuated inactivated vaccine produced by DF-1 cells is an effective control method, but the epidemic protection demands from the world poultry industry remain unfulfilled. To improve the IBDV vaccine production capacity and reduce the economic losses caused by IBDV in chicken, cellular metabolic engineering is performed on host cells.
