Article Synopsis
  • A new method for augmentation genioplasty is introduced, utilizing a discarded bone fragment from the mandible during intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (IVRO).
  • A 43-year-old female with Class III malocclusion underwent this surgical technique, which involved a 3D simulation to ensure proper alignment and fixation of the bone fragments post-operation.
  • The study found that using the proximal bone fragment significantly reduces complications compared to traditional chin osteotomy methods, and it offers alternative options for secondary genioplasty.

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) has been extensively studied in relation to various cognitive abilities, including executive function, attention, and memory. Nevertheless, there is a gap in our scientific knowledge regarding the functionally dissociable neural dynamics across the PFC during a cognitive task and their individual differences in performance. Here, we explored this possibility using a delayed match-to-sample (DMTS) working memory (WM) task using NIRSIT, a high-density, wireless, wearable functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system.

The combination therapy of antiviral peg-interferon and ribavirin has evolved as one of the better treatments for hepatitis C. In spite of its success in controlling hepatitis C infection, it has also been associated with treatment-related adverse side effects. The most common and life threatening among them is hemolytic anemia, necessitating dose reduction or therapy cessation.
