Pure spin currents induced by asymmetric H-passivation in BCP nanoribbons.

Inspired by the recently reported novel two-dimensional material BCP, we performed one-dimensional shearing along the zigzag direction to obtain four BCP nanoribbons with various edge atom combinations. An asymmetric hydrogen passivation scheme was employed to modulate the electronic properties and successfully open the band gap, especially the 2H-1H passivation with dihydrogenation and monohydrogenation at the top and bottom edges, respectively, achieving bipolar magnetic semiconductors with edge P-atoms contributing to the main magnetism. Furthermore, three crucial spin-polarized transmission spectra yielded a significant spin-dependent Seebeck effect (SDSE), displaying superior thermoelectric conversion capabilities by generating pure spin currents.

Fluoroquinolone antibiotics, a class of animal and human useful antibiotics, are widely utilized in numerous fields including biomedical science, animal husbandry, and aquatic finfish farming. Its high demand and wide application have directly or indirectly led to substantial consumption and discharge of antibiotics, affecting not only the environment but also endangering human health through bioaccumulation. Hence, rapid and precise detection of trace antibiotics in water, food, and biological samples is critically important.

HS-GC-IMS Analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds in Six Spicy Spices and Their Effects on Ulcerative Colitis.

The volatile organic compounds of six spices, including black pepper, dried ginger, cinnamon, fennel, clove, and zanthoxylum, were analyzed by gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and Euclidean distance. In further analyses, the effects of volatile oils in six spices on ulcerative colitis were assayed in a zebrafish model induced by 3-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid. A total of 120 kinds of volatile organic compounds were detected and 80 among them were identified, which included 10 common components and 3 to 24 characteristic components belonging to different spices.

Active Learning Pipeline to Identify Candidate Terms for a CDSS Ontology.

Ontology is essential for achieving health information and information technology application interoperability in the biomedical fields and beyond. Traditionally, ontology construction is carried out manually by human domain experts (HDE). Here, we explore an active learning approach to automatically identify candidate terms from publications, with manual verification later as a part of a deep learning model training and learning process.

Ensuring patient safety in healthcare involves training professionals and implementing clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and health IT solutions to reduce errors and adverse events. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into health IT has revolutionized clinical settings by enabling real-time insights and personalized recommendations. However, the use of health IT can lead to unintended consequences that are not adequately addressed during training and implementation.

Social media use for work during non-work hours and turnover intention: the mediating role of burnout and the moderating role of resilience.

Introduction: This study uses survey data from 504 Chinese teachers to investigate the relationship between social media use for work during non-work hours (SMUNW) and turnover intention, focusing on the mediating role of burnout and the moderating role of resilience in this relationship.

Methods: In November 2023, online survey links were sent to 529 teachers from Shandong Province, China, asking them to report their perceptions of SMUNW, burnout, resilience, and turnover intention. A sample of 504 valid responses was obtained.

Interactive effect of leader ethicality and competency on Chinese customs officers' organizational citizenship behaviors.

The dual qualities of an effective leader-ethicality and competency-have long been identified but seldom empirically examined. Using survey data from 329 Chinese customs officers collected in December 2022, this study investigates whether ethical leadership influences customs officers' organizational citizenship behaviors indirectly through work engagement and trust in leader. Following the interactive approach, we further postulate that leader competency can accentuate these indirect relationships.

In contrast to previous studies, we used NbN film and a gold film composite structure metamaterial. A significant slow-light effect could be observed at the transmission window, and the maximum group index could reach 100.
