Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic brought stringent social distancing measures, resulting in changes to daily routines such as increased time at home, remote learning, altered meal schedules, and reduced physical activity. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on glycemic control among pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes.

This study introduces a novel method for achieving highly ordered-crystalline InGaO [0 ≤ x ≤ 0.6] thin films on Si substrates at 250 °C using plasma-enhanced atomic-layer-deposition (PEALD) with dual seed crystal layers (SCLs) of γ-AlO and ZnO. Field-effect transistors (FETs) with random polycrystalline InGaO channels (grown without SCLs) show a mobility (µFE) of 85.

Background: The standardization of biological data using unique identifiers is vital for seamless data integration, comprehensive interpretation, and reproducibility of research findings, contributing to advancements in bioinformatics and systems biology. Despite being widely accepted as a universal identifier, scientific names for biological species have inherent limitations, including lack of stability, uniqueness, and convertibility, hindering their effective use as identifiers in databases, particularly in natural product (NP) occurrence databases, posing a substantial obstacle to utilizing this valuable data for large-scale research applications.

Result: To address these challenges and facilitate high-throughput analysis of biological data involving scientific names, we developed PhyloSophos, a Python package that considers the properties of scientific names and taxonomic systems to accurately map name inputs to entries within a chosen reference database.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread considerably across the globe, affecting numerous children and adolescents besides adults. Despite its relatively lower incidence rates in children and adolescents than in adults, some infected children and adolescents exhibit a severe postinflammatory response known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, followed by acute kidney injury, a common complication. Meanwhile, few reports have been available regarding kidney complications such as idiopathic nephrotic syndrome and other glomerulopathies associated with COVID-19 infection and vaccination in children and adolescents.

Background: Dyslipidemia can cause cardiovascular disease and increase the fatality rate among children with chronic kidney disease (CKD); this makes early screening and treatment of dyslipidemia crucial. Background & Aims: Results of randomized clinical trials are often first presented as conference abstracts, but these abstracts may be difficult to find, and trial results included in the abstract may not be followed by subsequent journal publications. In a review of abstracts submitted to eight major medical and surgical conferences in 2017, we identified 237 abstracts reporting primary results of randomized clinical trials accepted for presentation at three major gastroenterology and hepatology conferences. The aims of this new analysis were to determine the publication rate for these abstracts and the proportion of publications that included trial registration numbers in the publication abstract.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) developed the Milestones as a tool to aid trainee assessment based on the framework of the six core competencies of practice. Variability in the interpretation and application of the original Milestones prompted the ACGME to convene work groups within the different specialties and subspecialties to update the Milestones. The Geriatric Medicine work group was convened in 2019 with the goal of clarifying and simplifying the language of the Milestones, revising content to be specific to geriatrics, and developing supplemental resources to aid in implementation and use.
