The formation of organoiodine compounds (OICs) is of great interest in the natural iodine cycle as well as water treatment processes. Herein, we report a pathway of OIC formation that reactive iodine (RI) and OICs are produced from iodide oxidation in the presence of Fe(III) and natural organic matter (NOM) in frozen solution, whereas their production is insignificant in aqueous solution. A total of 251 patients who underwent intersphincteric resection from July 2014 to June 2020 were included in this study, for which the Kirwan's grade, Wexner score, and anorectal manometric index were used to evaluate the anorectal function and other parameters including demographics, surgical features, and clinical and pathological characteristics. To deal with large appearance and shape variations that commonly exist among different instances within the same object category, we leverage a pyramidal model where the affine transformation fields are progressively estimated in a coarse-to-fine manner so that the smoothness constraint is naturally imposed.
