Background: We evaluated the prognostic effect of lymphocytopenia caused by preoperative radiation therapy and chemotherapy in patients with rectal cancer.
Methods: A total of 147 patients with rectal cancer who underwent preoperative chemoradiotherapy and surgical resection between 2008 to 2021 participated. Lymphocyte nadir less than 500/μl were defined as lymphocytopenia in this study.
Quantum incompatibility, referred as the phenomenon that some quantum measurements cannot be performed simultaneously, is necessary for various quantum information processing tasks, such as nonlocality and steering. When these applications come to high-dimensional multimeasurement scenarios, it is crucial and challenging to witness the incompatibility of measurements with complex structures. To address this problem, we propose a modified quantum state discrimination protocol that decomposes complex compatibility structures into pairwise ones and employs noise robustness to bound incompatibility structures.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of primary colon cancer and serum neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and to assess the prognostic value of SUVmax and serum NLR in stage I and II colon cancer patients.
Methods: In this retrospective study a total of 128 patients with pathologically confirmed stage I and II colon cancer diagnosed between January 2014 and December 2017 were included. All patients underwent F-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) and differential white blood cell (WBC) counts before surgery.
The antitumor immune response of cancer immunotherapy is a cascade of cancer-immunity cycles (CIC). The immunosuppression of the tumor microenvironment and low immunogenicity of tumor cells, insufficient T lymphocyte activation, trafficking, and infiltration caused the failure to initiate and run the continuous multistage CIC, leading to unsatisfactory cancer immunotherapy outcomes. A doxorubicin/interleukin-12 plasmid DNA/celecoxib (DOX/pIL-12/CXB) combination strategy was designed by targeting the cascade CIC.
